  1. kudos to dkao for quick shipping and the great deal on the Ultimate Spider-man and Fables sets (thumbs u There were even more double copies of low # Fables than indicated in the auction and he threw in more Ultimate Spider-mans than were listed in the auction set.
  2. This is ridiculous. After a week, payment was sent. The money is in the Paypal account. Claiming to not know who sends you money verges on negligence or incompetence. At the very least, logging into Paypal will show you a Shipping button for that transaction which indicates that action needs to be taken BY THE SELLER. Despite the emails or lack of them, money changed hands and the seller was obligated to ship the product in a timely fashion.
  3. If you hadn't picked that up, I would have actually. Saw it disappear off Pedigree too late...
  4. Kudos to Lighthouse for the 110 pounds of comic bags. My Postal Carrier was NOT appreciative and had to get someone else to drop it off via a special trip. Kudos to McMiles for the Unity Red #0 9.8 and other books. Great packaging even though the outside was banged around, the insides were fine. Kudos to 143ksk who wrapped the VCC comics between cardboard INSIDE a box. The box was crushed via a corner (Corner was crumpled 2 inches into the box... basically caved in.) Contents came through intact, however.
  5. Nice pickup on the first Elfquest appearance The NorthGuards though... uhm... you can find them on Atomic Avenue for $1.50 each. http://www.atomicavenue.com/atomic/TitleDetail.aspx?TitleID=19930
  6. Finally got a Vampirella Special HC. Unfortunately, it was shipped in a Priority ENVELOPE.

  8. I don't think Magazines suck... I was selling them in my VCC booth! I'm trying to get rid of all my magazines... not accumulate more. (Except the Atlas/Seaboard ones or the ones that are part of a set.) Magazines that DO suck though... Warriors and other magazines that are higher than normal magazine boxes. Mighty difficult to keep those in any kind of shape. Thx for the deal!
  9. I actually have a similar ComicDrawer wall/room! (And I use ComicBase too.) I had some 1/2" 4x8' board ripped in half to go in between my rows though. They distribute the weight and keep the mass from shifting. They also help keep the boxes down even though I go to the ceiling. (Traditionally, the ComicDrawers in the top row will tip when you pull the inner box out.) (I use them as table tops/mini tables when I bring them to conventions. A Stack of 3x2 Comic Drawer boxes creates a nice little cardtable top.) I have rounded 29"x29" 1/2" boards for the top. While ComicDrawers come with 4 title dividers that are very handy, I take up the slack space with unused Flat Rate PRIORITY boxes (the small boxed ones) and Priority videotape-sized/book mailers. I keep them together with some scotch tape so I can still use their sealers when I'm shipping something that size. In the meantime though, they keep my comics upright.
  10. Send payment yet? Man, sorry about that. I see that I purchased something on April 12, but I don't even remember what it was. Paypal sent. (I rounded it up to an even number.) I think it was the lack of total in the PM. You listed two mailing options and I probably didn't want to do the math at that time. (Or I was in the office.)
  11. I don't usually do this regularly, but here's a kudos to some of the people I've done business with in the last few months (some multiple times). 12. I just found that issue of Comics Journal in a random box actually.. HUGE article on Mr. Flessel. I posted it a couple days ago in another thread. Shin, if you want to sell that CJ#245, LearnedHand was asking where to find a copy. Might want to send him a PM. Thx for the tip!

  14. Summary: 1986 - 1996 American Entertainment 1996 - 2000 - Another Universe and Fandom 2000+ Marvel Comics - probably out when Jemas was booted Present: Selling Vacation Rental Software Steve Milo started in the direct response industry early by building a direct response catalog company out of his University of Virginia dorm room that grew to $15 million in annual sales and began an ecommerce site in 1995. Milo made a colossal mistake of selling his company to a venture funded Internet roll-up that did not survive. Milo has worked as President of Interactive Marketing at Marvel Comics, EVP of Consumer Applications at Eyematic Technology and most recently as Director of Ecommerce Marketing and Business Development at the privately held Bradford Group Milo has returned to his entrepreneurial roots as CEO and President of Quickthunder Software – a company specializing in Vacation Rental software. http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/newsitem.cgi?id=1661 Prior to joining Marvel, Mr. Milo spent five years in senior management positions at AnotherUniverse.com and Fandom. As the founder and president of Another Universe.com, a leading Internet e-commerce and content site for toys and collectibles, Mr. Milo built the site into a major destination, generating more than 800,000 unique monthly visitors, producing a 300% increase in year-to-year online sales, and building a database of more than 300,000 customers. Following the acquisition of AnotherUniverse.com by Fandom, Mr. Milo served as the company’s Executive Vice President of Sales. In this capacity, he developed the merchandise and e-commerce strategy for the company, and recruited key members of the senior management team. Earlier in his career, Mr. Milo founded American Entertainment, a direct response catalog he built from scratch while in college. From 1986 1996, he built the company into an operation that generated more than $17 million in annual sales. In 1992, he was named a runner-up for Inc. Magazine’s "Entrepreneur of the Year." His career path first crossed with Marvel in 1994 while at American Entertainment as his company entered into a joint partnership with Marvel to help them grow their catalog sales. This venture proved successful as from 1994-1996 American Entertainment helped build Marvel’s catalog business from 10,000 buyers to 250,000 buyers.

  16. This was the scans that was finally sent after your false claims about the book were made. And I appreciate that the fact that you have admitted your mis-deeds. And for offically removing yourself from the pedestal that you had placed yourself on. Any idea who photoshopped the new and improved scan? Stephen The image you posted, Stephen, looks like it was taken with a digital camera (and is slightly blurry) since the background looks like carpeting? The other image was clearly scanned in with with either a black background on the scanner or with the lid off the scanner. Your image also does not look "flattened" against the scanner platen due to the slight curling at the edges? Again, this could be because the scanner lid was left off as to not press the comic against the scanning glass... or because it is a digital camera shot. This could explain some of the differences in picture quality. (I am not saying any Photoshopping was or was not done BTW.)
  17. Yes, you should realize that they've probably factored the cost of the commission into the price. They've probably also added a BIN price as opposed to an offer price. Cost of shipping is also added in when you buy... but the seller also has to ship it to the service (so shipping is part of the sale price when you're a seller... It's an added expense when you're a buyer.) Just my observations from my own listings/purchases...
  18. I agree.. I actually found Nik's thread entertaining, twisted as that may seem... It was all in good fun. If someone REALLY wants a book to complete their collection, usually people will defer if they really don't need it themselves.
  19. Okay.. so Quick Reply comes with a caveat. The person using just REPLY though and not QUOTE... that's the one that some members have a problem with correct? Inserting the into a REPLY and then submitting, THEN GOING BACK and editing the post and adding the name of the comic (Even though it's technically already linking back to the comic in question.) And as an aside, I know it's frustrating to see some of these books disappear in a flash... or to see a great deal snatched up. I usually use the QUOTE function except that I found I was being too slow (which necessitated the new strategy.., I.E. you don't bring a knife to a gunfight. )
