  1. These "Crown of Horns" are so tough to get in 9.8 condition. Very proud of this one along with the new and CORRECT notations
  2. A pic of the aforementioned Bartleby:
  3. And with the #22 is where a few complaints come in. I requested that the graders put in a few label notations on some of the books in this submission which I'm very glad they did. However, a couple of these notations ended up being mislabeled. "1st appearance of Bartleby Bone" should be "1st appearance of Bartleby" (the baby Rat Creature who the cousins befriended in the story; obviously not a member of the family of their family). I noticed the error on my account before they were graded and let the CGC guy know the what the problem was. He said "We will get it fixed."
  4. Finally getting around to posting these. Had a few clunkers in the bunch but scored 6 that are definite keepers. Big shoutout to mschmidt for helping me get these done. First one is a #19:
  5. I'm finally getting around to organizing my recent pickups so a long overdue KUDOS to mschmidt. Does wonderful work every time he's asked. Will post the results soon in the Bone Appreciation Thread.
  6. Non FT Modern Signature Series submission: 10/16/13 - Received 11/11/13 - Verified 11/19/13 - Scheduled for Grading 11/20/13 - Graded 12/5/13 - Grading/Quality Control 12/16/13 - Shipped 41 business days ain't bad.
  7. Eh, would just like it shipped before Christmas if possible. I think this thread has firmly established that "first in, first out" definitely doesn't apply so you may have something with "last in, first out".
  8. Marked Scheduled for Grading on Dec 2 Marked Graded on Dec 3! I know it will sit on Quality Control for a month but still. A non-fast track Economy order submitted the same day is still on "received." Marked Grading/Quality Control on Dec 5 Marked Shipped/Safe on Dec 10. That looks like 31 business days or so, which is perfectly acceptable for a non-Fast Track book. Unfortunately, I turned in an Economy order on the same day and it only just became Verified. This makes me wonder why I still have a Modern submission sitting in Grading/QC since 11/21. The way they process orders makes absolutely no sense. Give 'em a call and ask. I don't really know all about how the process goes. Maybe they wanted to do some extra checks for restoration? Maybe they wanted to look up some background data to determine whether there was color fading? Maybe there was significant disagreement over a manufacturing defect vs flaw? Maybe yours got put under the table? Maybe you have a lot of double-sized books and they have to reload the encapulation machine with fatty slabs? If his got "put under the table", so did everyone else's. Your TAT is not typical and jumped several people who have posted in this thread (including myself: modern non-fast track received by CGC on 10/16). I'd say you got pretty lucky.
  9. Non FT Modern Signature Series submission: 10/16/13 - Received 11/11/13 - Verified 11/19/13 - Scheduled for Grading 11/20/13 - Graded 12/5/13 - Grading/Quality Control

  11. Nicely done! Love the #41 I'm actually having a debate with CGC about first appearance notations, one of which should appear on the #22.
  12. I window-bagged it for that spot so it had to be signed in silver.

  14. Definite 9.8: Silver ink would have been much better, yes? Lesson I learned: need to do a better job of emphasizing this particular detail.
  15. Borderline 9.6/9.8 Oh well. This is still the best copy of this issue that I've owned so the search will continue.
  16. Possible 9.9 You may not believe me but this is still a 9.9 candidate in my eyes...if not for the bad crease on the upper left corner of the back cover. Probably happened in shipping or perhaps during the signing process. What makes it even more of a bummer is the Fone Bone sketch. These things happen though and it's not the first time. Still have a 9.8 SS in the collection so I'm not empty handed.
  17. Time to shake the dust off this thread with some new books. I thought mschmidt would have showed us his haul by now but I guess it's up to me. Sent five books into SDCC for a Jeff Smith signing. Thought three were definite 9.8s, one a possible 9.9, and one that was borderline 9.6/9.8 (I needed books in this particular number range so I thought I'd gamble). Unfortunately, there was a miscommunication on the pen color as I wanted all of these with silver ink. It really only affected one book so it's not as bad as it could have been...
  18. Non FT Modern Submission: 10/16/13 - Received 11/11/13 - Verified
  19. Non FT Modern submission: 10/16/13 - Received I think it will be shipped before 1/30/14. Let's see what happens.
  20. Which would you prefer a 9.8 Bone #1 or a NM Thorn: Tales From The Lantern? You can put me in the 9.8 #1 camp. Four or five years ago, I'd want a HG Thorn no question but this was just before the release of "Before Bone". Once I cracked that book open and started seeing the "best of" strips from Tales of the Lantern, my interest seriously waned. I understand the novelty of the book and it's sorta fun to see the origins of some of the major plot points, but the tone is completely different from the story I grew up with...and not in a good way.
  21. You're very testy for a noob. Mint is someone who gives a lot to this community of anonymous chat forum yappers. You seem to be ripping old members new holes often. Might be a tactic you want to rethink. Just sayin' Fair feedback. However, I recommend you look back at the conversation history. I am rarely the first to escalate and I wasn't in this case. It isn't unreasonable to question people's posts, especially the controversial and polarizing ones. It also isn't unfair to ask for information to back up opinions. I value experience and insight, but only when it is more than just prose. Healthy tension happens here quite frequently and to everyone. Longevity doesn't preclude one from discussion. While everyone might not like my approach, it is not as if I attack people outright (joking posts aside). However, like everyone else on this site, I poke back. How was anything he mentioned polarizing? You were the one who tried to sum up his long post with the following: "Not everything you see on eBay is illegal". When did he ever say that? Escalation = you.
  22. Thanks. You asked him directly or read it? Several interviews back in the 90s. The first print was very popular and everyone wanted to know from Jeff himself. "2k" made it's debut on eBay many years back and it continues for obvious reasons.
