I think simple minds are attracted to pretty things and lack the awareness that it’s the writing which sticks to their minds.

Well, that's not condescending at all. I appreciate great art and often get variant covers that I like. I'm not saying this book is worth that much, but just because you don't appreciate a cover on that level, it doesn't mean someone else shouldn't.

Dumb question: Are you ammo dudes expecting society to collapse and you have to use the ammo to kill people trying to take your food and shelter?  Because of a recession?

Another dumb question: Does ammo have a decent secondary market?  Like, are you guys buying ammo just in case but also able to sell it to make a profit?

Not a dumb question. It's a dumb practice.

Here's what I use.  Got this from Home Depot and had previous experience with them in the garage.  They are also just a little short of a full box wide but it's not that much.  Biggest thing is the wire mesh tends to "catch" a bit on the back edge of the box as you pull them out so I've been thinking about adding a thin sheet of plywood that would fit down on top of the mesh.  They are very robust so there won't be any sagging and there's no chance the weight is going to overwhelm the structure.  They are easy to assemble assuming you have space in the room where they will permanently sit to assemble them - I wouldn't want to put one together and then have to move it somewhere else.  There are different sizes so you can choose one that's right-sized for your collection and whatever you will think you will pick up in the future.  As you can see, this unit fits up to 7 long boxes on each shelf.

I have something like that but larger. Holds 50 boxes. The "catching" thing is annoying for me as well, but it's a minor problem.

Well before everyone jumps off the deep end with pitchforks without actually reading the article and only reading OP's one line, the jist I got from the article is that the brand "Stan Lee" was licensed to Marvel. The article states they're pretty much gonna use it minimally for now (just existing audio/video to use in marketing, merchandise, theme parks). But this would give them the right to basically digitally recreate him to stick him in movies and things of that nature like the one line the OP quoted (The article explicitly states they DON'T plan on doing this but they basically have the license to do that, but it is a slippery slope so I understand the kneejerk reactions)

As long as the CGI is as well done as it was with Luke Skywalker in Book of Boba Fett, I'm fine with it.

Dude, that's pretty harsh! I happen to like his stuff. There's a lot worse stuff out there than his. Example have you every seen the art in Gamma Flight and every issue of the Thunderbolts? The list goes on and on.... I don't care for Donny Cates writing, his run in Thanos I thought was garbage, The Fallen One a hoard....WTF I know people like Cates, people like what people like, let other people enjoy what they want. When I see his stuff I tend to stay away from it. So remember what your mom said when you where little, if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.

My mom hated Liefeld too. :nyah:

Moon Knight be chillin' , flippers and spectulators be illin'.

3 years build up for at most what was a pedestrian show that relagated Moon Knights screen time to cameo status. The hippo received more cumulative screen time.

Now speculators grasping in hyperbolic desperation that there will be some small appearence in some future film.   Quote the Joker; HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I don't know about that. Many of us didn't consider the show "pedestrian" at all, and it has been confirmed that there are plans for his character in the future.

It's certainly not exclusive to these Boards, but there's a distressing trend toward massively lowered expectations on anyone meeting any kind of reasonable standard for performance at all, and then jumping on people who get upset about the growing dysfunction.

This is not about CGC's performance. It's about not being an a** on the phone to employee trying to help.

I have gone through this entire thread, and I have counted 39 people who have told me that I bear responsibility for not checking the pages. Understood. I learned from a $500 mistake, and I will make sure that I count the pages of any raw book in the future. In reality, I rarely purchase raw books, but I let my desire to own this book override what I normally do.

It has been suggested that I am stupid and ignorant. I think the more apt description is "too trusting." I have purchased many books here, and this has never happened before. I should not have assumed that this would be the case forever.

I may be naïve, but I assume that a person is good until this person proves otherwise. I wouldn't have lasted very long in my chosen profession if I had gone in with the attitude that, in general, I should assume people are not trustworthy. I grew up on a farm where our house doors were always unlocked and where we left our keys in our vehicles all the time. This was common practice for all of our neighbors. I grew up in an environment where the people that I interacted with were all trustworthy, and I have carried it forward into my adult life. In my life, I would say a large number of the people I know were trustworthy. If the majority of the people I know are trustworthy, it's hard to start assuming people are not .

@Sigur Roshas accused me of being a liar and doing all this just to bring attention to myself. I cannot believe that people would believe that I would be willing to go through all this belittling just to gain attention. Some say liar, I say mistaken. I have made 3.9K+ posts since I have joined this board, and I think most people have been able to judge my character based on these posts. I hope that people will be able to see that I recently showed a poor lack of judgement, and not let my recent posts cast me as rude, ignorant, and misogynistic (I'm sure there were other adjectives used) forever.

Ronald Reagan said, "Trust. But verify." I will try to apply this to my purchases in the future.

I'm sorry for any recent problems I have caused, and I will strive to do better. I hope that you will can accept this as I intended it.

The problem is, you're considering a seller who doesn't count pages as "not good" or "untrustworthy". Many sellers just don't think to count the pages. You're assigning maliciousness where there likely is none.

    I would do the same.

But one thing I don't do is check the pages of books I sell.  If there is a problem, send it back and I'll more than make up for it.  But my time has value and I don't get paid to count pages or check the condition of each.  I undergrade my auctions "just in case" I miss something... but that's based on a visual inspection of covers. Inside and out.

I don't demand a seller I buy from do any more than I do.

Same here. If someone asks, I'll count them, but otherwise, nah.

I appreciate the original poster's efforts to fix a damaged book...please note though that it is a 2.0 grade at best no matter what you do to it at this point because of the apparent mold spot and staining. You can press and CPR that thing for hours and it won't change much else other than have it be slightly more presentable. And please, for your own sake (unless you are doing so because you love it), don't waste money grading it.

Yeah, you can buy a slab of this one with a pretty high grade for relatively cheap.
