OK, I'll admit it. I am bored out of my head. My books left yesterday for SDCC and I have nothing to do. So.....I went to my warehouse today, and dug out a box of 70s horror mags, and scanned and graded them all today.
The box consists of low to mid grade Skywalds, and beautiful high Grade Marvels, and a Creepy #1 & #2.
Might list a few tonight, but primarily will be listing them tomorrow, starting mid morning.

I am going to be debuting about 100 pre 1945 GA books at Motor City Con. Mostly DCs, but a few "others" including a few Timelys, and some other cool stuff.

I'm having trouble getting a response from Dale Roberts concerning the comics I paid for in his modern sales thread. I paid on 3/19/12 and subsequently received a tracking number for Priority mail shipping. To this date there is no information regarding the items actually being shipped. The only information I see is that a delivery confirmation number was created. I have sent two messages to Dale but I have not received a response.
Actually he sent a question on the 25th and I was in Kansas City and forgot to respond and then he sent one a couple of hours ago that I already responded to.
Sorry, had alot to ship and get ready for Planet Comicon and now C2E2. I probably should have gotten to it before now, but I didn't. Finished shipping everything today.
I hope this doesn't become like ebay where if people don't have there books in 5 days you start getting negative feedback. I know when I buy stuff, I don't ever give it a second thought. I know it will show up at some point.
Thanks to all you guys for sticking up for me. I really appreciate it, and I will try to do better about communication.

Am Spidey #88 - 123 is a fantastic run and the art is brilliant. Kane/Romita is simply unbelievable and the action sequences with Spider-man are fantastic, and Kane/Romita drawing Gwen & MJ is just beautiful.

My earliest comic memories are the spinner racks at 7-11s and various drug stores. Although I probably didn't realize it at the time, a huge percentage of the Marvel covers were drawn by Gil Kane. I also didn't realize just how many dramatic, inventive, and memorable covers Kane drew in that period. So I figured it would be cool to have a thread dedicated to his work.
What a great idea for a thread, Barton. Work has been crazy lately so I just discovered it. Like you, I remember heading to the store for new comics as a kid in the 70s; Amazing Spider-Man, Avengers, X-Men, Defenders, Thor, Captain America, Marvel Team-Up, Iron Man...he did them all. I loved his Spideys as a kid and I love his Thors as an adult but my favorite cover of his is this one.
Thanks for joining in, Steve. That AA #11 is phenomenal - a killer cover and a killer book. (The ASM #121 and 122 are great too. But I think they're all Romita. Not that I'd ever mind looking at them.)
No way Barton. Those books are all Kane goodness with Romita inks. The best possible combo on Spidey.
I know the interiors are Romita and Kane. But I think the covers are just Romita. They're only signed by Romita and GCD only lists Romita as the cover artist. (I know GCD isn't gospel, but between that and the lone signatures...)
I will never forget the first time that I read these two comics. You could very well be right about the covers. I forgot what thread we are in.

Thought I would share this one...

Rawhide Kid #44 • February 1965 • November 1964 newsstand
The Grand Comicbook Database says the cover may be Ayers (with a question mark) over Kirby. I am seeing far more brush control than usual for Ayers. I'm thinking maybe Sol Brodsky.
Rawhide Kid was bi-monthly at this time and it gave Larry Lieber the opportunity to concentrate on his pencils and inks. A rather nice page from Stan's brother.
The prairie wind was arustlin' when I took this photo but the letter suggesting western/superhero crossovers is interesting ---- and it does show the world's shortest form of the Marvel Checklist.
Here's another look at it.

Thanks for the kudos everyone.

Here's a beauty I just got in, and it already went back out, but I made a scan for all to enjoy....

I don't know if Tim Cottrill is still posting here or not (pulpguide), but he had one of the most extensive Centaur collections of anyone at one time. He has a vast knowledge of the issues and should also have alot of knowledge about which ones are really tough.

Roy, Jamie Graham (Graham Crackers) also had a Detective 37 at Terry's Show last month - not sure if you saw it or not.
Jamie bought the one I had. The one he has for sale is his under copy.

Gil Kane was my favorite Marvel artist as a kid. Right up there with Neal Adams who was my number one over at DC. My favorite combination was Gil Kane/John Romita. Could never get enough of those two.
Absolutely. Spider-man never looked so good as with Kane's spectacular pencil work and story telling and Romita's beautiful inks. Issues #88 - 122 are just amazing. Especially issue #90. Wow!

Got a few in today...

Those westerns are sweet, so hard to find in that kind of shape.... well! Unless your board name is Ghost Town.
I don't think I can say I found these. Maybe I can say "I found them delivered to my door after I sent a check to the kindly dealer who found the books and slabbed the books and offered me the books."
In any case, I'm happy to find them in my boxes now. The Two-Gun Kids have been particularly elusive for me.
No matter how you got them, they are books that just do not show up looking like that, Dale sure came up trumps with them.... I wonder if he could find a 9.6 Monsters on the prowl # 20 for me?
Maybe...I will try to keep on the look at for that issue.
As far as the Westerns, I've got a bunch more of them coming from the same collection. Almost all of them are going to be highest graded. Remarkable collection with unbelievable color strike and gloss and almost everything has white pages or oww.
Thanks Dale, Too bad you are not coming over to the London show, if those books are anything to go by, I would have a field day.
Maybe someday. My little girls are too young to travel that far, and if I do go over, I would like to make a family vacation out of it. I would be glad to sell you some stuff and mail it. Priority Flat rate is not too bad if you fill the box up. Works out to about 10.00 a book or maybe a little less.

Looking for a little help here.
I have a Black Panther #4 35 center which is probably going to grade either 9.6 or 9.8. I know it will be far and away highest on census, but I am wondering what it might be worth. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
As a rough estimate, a CGC 9.8 Conan #75 just sold for $350. in the last c-link auction
I would say that number is pretty low, but based on the PMs offers I have received, Even as a rough estimate, I think that number would be pretty low, maybe really low.
Important difference is that there are 5 copies of Conan #75 over 9.0 (including a 9.6 and 2 9.4s), and there are only 2 9.0 copies of Black Panther #4 with the next closest being a 7.5.

Any other thoughts on this?
I have never really considered this type of thing "worth" very much. Just considered it a collectible item for someone who likes McFarlane art. But who knows. Stick the sucker on ebay and we can all learn something.
I was waiting for you to offer me $600 for it!
I can only go to $550. Sorry. Guess I will look for the Liefeld portfolio instead.
