  1. Looking at the Grand Comics Database, it says that issue #3 had a "Full-page illustration asking for letters." I guess they didn't get much fan mail.
  2. Oh, and let's not forget Sweet XVI - there is a single copy of #1 in the census and zero recorded sales.
  3. As a collector of everything that is of little to no value from Marvel, I offer: The Human Fly Invaders Alf Crystar Marvel Two In One - in 1977 I actually traded my copy of Star Wars #1 (which is such a poorly drawn book) for a MTIO #24 (The one with Black Goliath)
  4. Ah, you're right. The AF15 never did have the cover art which was drawn by Kirby. I wonder if that had something to do with it.
  5. Exactly what attracted me to this copy. Great colors despite the technical grade. Desperately paid over market, but hey, what else is new.
  6. Some more pics and info: https://blogs.loc.gov/loc/2008/04/library-of-congress-acquires-spider-mans-birth-certificate/
  7. Well, AF 15 is in the library of congress. https://www.loc.gov/loc/lcib/0805/spiderman.html Others, I've not heard.
  8. Here's a few that I have run into in my collection: The famous Thorpe and Porter stamp right in the sweet spot: A store or maybe a collector, I don't really know. The address is a storefront now but I would venture to guess that it was back then, as well. Ali Aljad on 1111 Rutland Road in Brooklyn. This one I bought in Brooklyn when I was a kid so I don't think it went very far. And then there's this one from Italy - Napoli (Naples) . Casa de (something or other) 130 Lira, and it arrived June 1965. Anyone have info on this one?
  9. I could have bought a Night Nurse #1 for almost the same price but went with this one instead...
  10. Hellcow. You just can't find a cape like that for just any cow.
  11. By the way, I got a kick out of seeing Ditko Moving company.
  12. I'm a few episodes into the series - I had low expectations but I'm hooked. I had no idea that Hawk and Dove contained a female now - I only know them from SA comics and they were both dudes - although one was always looking upset by the violence. Let's see where this goes.
  13. Buy from Heritage and you will know what pain really feels like.
  14. Glad this thread was created. It's a subtle but noticeable thing that when a letterer does his job well it generally goes unnoticed. There were comics that I just could not stomach because the letters were typeset - it may have been some Charlton or something. A complete turn off, regardless of the art and story.
  15. Jamie Graham is now in Murrietta. He's the owner of the previous Ryan's Comics. I would also approach SoCal comics in San Diego - they buy big collections so maybe they have been offered something like this recently. In Orange county there is Comics Toons and Toys in Tustin and Torpedo in the city of Orange. In Burbank you will find House of Mystery - those are my main places to buy - I'm sure there's other smaller joints around.
  16. It took me two and a half hours to unpack my stack. It was like going through a Russian doll embedded in a Chinese puzzle box wrapped around a DaVinci cryptex! Alas, everything was minty fresh on the inside core! I'm gonna neg him anyway
  17. And I don't mean flipping books, which I've seen happen to quite a few. But have you ever sold, traded or lost a book that you later find?
