Can someone inform me how the drawing video works? So once our name is drawn, how long time frame do we get to make our pick? Do we we have to watch live? I likely will be busy with relatives. And how many picks do we make?
Also, you can refer to the first page in this thread. There are links to previous raffles and you'll see the elves pick names. One of the highlights of the year, especially when there are challenging, punny or weird names to draw....you know, like bluemedgroup

Technical question: Come Christmas, are we doing our gift reveals in this thread, or will there be a separate one?
In the past, it's been done both ways...even simultaneously. Personally, I prefer a reveal thread so it doesn't get clouded with this one.

I have received my SS package
It's now safely tucked under the Christmas Tree!
Can't wait to see what @Bkd Reader sent me! Thanks so much, I am looking forward to Christmas eve to rip open my presents like a bratty 8 year old!

It seems we always wait until after someone has passed before we show our appreciation. Let's celebrate the work by George Perez that has brought us joy.
Let me start by saying that I am very late to the George Perez art appreciation. Only after the Infinity Gauntlet limited series was heating up did it come to my attention. I read the TPB and decided to grab the run. I loved the art - the splash pages were like Kirby's with the elaborate details as was depicted on the cover. If I'm not mistaken, I got a nice signed #1 9.6 from Joey on these boards a few years back.
That opened up my curiosity and I got into the Wonder Woman reboot he did back in 1987. That wraparound cover is truly a work of masters. I find his version of Wonder Woman the most empowered of them all - she is drawn in a way to command authority with a sprinkling of vulnerability and a dash of sass.
What's your George Perez fave?

I think I'll stop by this weekend, as well.

Two years back I would have said SS 4 (best cover ever) but it has skyrocketed in price.

Facing one's mortality head on must be a monumentally difficult thing to do for anyone. How does this not rack up the anxiety level for someone? I can only glean from his post that this is the peace he has with him: "I am enveloped in the loving arms of so many who love me as much as I love them. It’s quite uplifting to be told that you’ve led a good life, that you’ve brought joy to so many lives and that you’ll be leaving this world a better place because you were part of it. "
George, I count myself among those you have brought joy to, even if it was as an old man who didn't appreciate your work until much later. Godspeed, George, your legacy lives on as many of the great masters.

Modern age is going on almost 32 years. Isn't it time to sub divide that era, too?

It happened to me, so I decided to illustrate the issue that I face. It sounds like the same flavor for everyone.

I was perusing YouTube today and this was on my feed. It's an intriguing question and I like the way this guy presented it. Any others you'd like to share?

I am relatively new to the grading and slab game but has anyone out there tried to use technology to grade comics?
I worked for a pavement company that had high tech vans with laser scanners and lidar that would photograph/measure the road as we drove over it. The images would then be run through software after being collected and all of the damage (location and type) would be shown on the images and on reports.
In theory, couldn't the same technology be applied to grading comics which would then eliminate the pesky humans who are slow and prone to error? You could grade thousands of comics a day with this type of setup.
40 year old virgins are much cheaper than LIDAR.

Happened to me as recently as yesterday. As noted above, the only way for me to log back in is to log out of the CGC account, log back in, then go to the chat boards.

I don't care what comic it's in as long as it's not pronounced like Jenny Slate pronounced it in the Venom trailer.
