  1. Yes, I had some published work after college but then I was an ad guy for 40 years too, but no longer. I'm trying to get my chops back. Took a class at the Kubert School this fall probably will go back next session. I'm working on a retro-style Conan piece but it's been going slow. I'll post it when it's done. I posted this pencil because I really never showed it anywhere else and I felt like this crowd would appreciate it most. I was a wet behind the ears kid when I did it.
  2. Rusted staples. Pass. Makes me think of an interesting point: Given the work already done on the book, would replacing the staples raise or lower the value? And if the rusted staples were to be replaced with vintage staples from that same time period, would that be enough to push the entire book into PLOD territory, or would it still be considered to be a Blue Conserved book? From the CGC web site: Conservation Repairs Tear seals Spine split seals Reinforcement Piece reattachment Some cover or interior cleaning (water or solvent) Staples cleaned or replaced Some leaf casting So yes it would still be a conserved grade
  3. I did this piece in my 1st year at college (1975). I hadn't "developed" my signature yet It's a little amateurish but you can see the Barry Smith and Frazetta influences in it.
  4. Bought a Superboy #1 an my 1st Showcase #4 off of Howard. What a big deal that was for me. It's ridiculous how much these books have appreciated since then (the late 60's).
  5. GL is my #2 but it's real close
  6. I hope to someday be back in the fold No, I it's an 18 x 24 pen & ink I copied from a scan of the original cover. I stared doing these a few months back to practice my line work and I really wanted to have a copy on my cave walls I've done a few of them. Here's another Green Lantern related one:
  7. I didnt' realized this was boba's old copy...sad to see him leave the club It sold for a good cause later twice. Congrats! Fixed that I'm gone, but I constantly keep an eye out for new posts. And until the day I become a full-fledged member again, I have this to keep me warm
  8. I kinda lost it when he, cowering behind a door, watched his mom be killed.
  9. Jared Morillo Detective Morillo / evil counterpart Plunder
  10. It was an amazing copy with fantastic PQ that is rare in this book! I was really bummed to part with it as GL is my favorite superhero (followed closely by the Flash) - but I am really happy it went to a board member. +1[font:Comic Sans MS]2[/font] +1 +1
  11. Now that was a good mid-season ender! Back to the old days of take no prisoners, And the -script was good too. Keep it up DC
  12. I'm a DC guy, and I didn't like it that much the 1st season, but this show has in my opinion become the best superhero show on TV I guess it's true about Marvel being better at this then DC
  13. Good stuff Dan! Thanks again for the book and the ear ?
  14. And the addition of some humor helped a lot. I do wish they'd stop using aliens that all look pretty much the same over the three DC shows. And why are the aliens always nude?
  15. I know I'm in the minority but I don't like what they're doing to some of my favorite characters. But I get that others may enjoy the show regardless. I think it's a good idea to move it to Tuesday after Flash.
  16. Sorry I feel the way I do really. I do watch the show regardless. Fortunately it get's a huge pass being my all-time favorite comic book character. I hope they change my mind soon
  17. So far I like the new season better than last, but they need to juice it up a bit more. It's so depressingly dark too. Constantine would definitely lighten the mood up. I hope they bring him back.
  18. Another "persecuted aliens hiding amoungst us" plot! Really? The fight club thingy was ridiculous. And everyone seems to be nicely finding a love interest . Definitely why I watch superhero shows for. Not! Super girl however is still dreamy
  19. The writing has gotten so bad I simply watch for the appearances. It's sad since it got such a great start. The stories just lack any form of continuity. And Supergirl is also going south for me. The irony is that MAOS is now my favorite show as it is the one that seems to follow some form of logic. Arrow is better than last season but it too has gotten less enjoyable to watch.
  20. You're definitely conquered one of the toughest mountains to climb among Silver Age DC's
