  1. Thanks The hammer price was lower than I expected, and I might have been able to get more privately, but I wanted to give it a try and so I took a shot. All-in-all, I have to say I'm happy. Maybe prices will settle back down and provide the opportunity to get me another copy down the road. I'm happy this book is finally getting some respect Hey, nothing is guaranteed but is way better price than a few years ago. Would be delighted to see you back in this club. ...to think about...I've been a member quite a while. I'll have to be happy being a spectator here for a while, but if the past is any indication (I've had 4 copies of the book throughout my life) I'll be back in the club again someday. You can count on me trying that's for sure!
  2. I appreciate the boost Rick Heritage really wanted the book in the auction and so I got a break on the commission. Good thing too

  4. Well, where are they already?
  5. Not really - not much of a risk taker... I think I might just put it up on ebay with a reasonable (Although I can't fathom how to find that out) price and a make an offer. That way I can't lose too much...we'll see. If you're going to go that route why not put it on here in the marketplace for a day or two first. It's such a nice book and a lot of folks are looking for one, and you have a good rep around here as well. You could do the same thing, avoid the eBay fees and the possibility of selling to a dirtbag. Just a thought.
  6. Sounds like you made your decision Go 4 it!
  7. I dunno - seems like $300 you could save yourself, but maybe others think differently
  8. No offence to Boba or the book but Savanah has to be one of the lowest pedigrees. I agree I expected it to go north of 30k though None taken. I too though there was a little more left, but then again better than $4k a grade-point, and certainly a lot more than I paid for it. But I also think the rumors about the Savannah books is a lot of hooey. The book looked great to me. Buy the book . . . I'm happy - and I have 5 more Showcases coming up for auction on Saturday
  9. since this thread is spoiler filled, I think it's wally west....guy was definitely black and if it's not diggle and west is dead...that's the only option left. I thought so too - his hands looked to be of a black man. However, there's a shot later in the show where you can see the back of his neck (under the mask/helmet) which appears to have light straight hair and white skin. Anybody else see this?
  10. I was thinking that, but perhaps on earth-2 Barry's dad died (became zoom and made it look like he died) and his mom remarried. We never did see his dad only the speed dial label with "mom & dad" - could be a step-dad.
  11. If Detective 225 is sought due to the Martiam Manhunter first appearance then it is interesting to note that his second appearance in 226 is an incredibly scarce book, with only around 40 graded copies and most of those low grade. Same thing - although this may be a rare book, lack of graded copies doesn't necessarily = scarcity.
  12. That may be so, but consider that interest in Detective 225 has only recently peaked (because of the appearances of MM on TV and so forth) It's likely people have been submitting all the other books (including Showcase 4's) at a higher rate, over a longer time period than Detective 225s. I bet there's been a spike in Detective 225 submissions since the renewed interest in MM.
  13. Anyone know who is the guy in the metal mask & headgear in the cell across from where Barry is being held?
  14. Dang it! Now I have to go back and watch this episode again.
  15. Wow, now that you mention that ,it did kinda pop out as something weird for him to say. Maybe on Earth 2 Barry's dad became the speedster instead of the son?
  16. Very cool!!! These shows are so chock-full of comic goodness they are worthy of multiple viewings simply to catch everything going on.
  17. +1 The Hulk is certainly far more ingrained in pop culture than the Flash. The new show is obviously doing a lot to help but it is airing on a third rate network. Crossing over to supergirl seems more designed to help that struggling show than the Flash. Hopefully people will follow him back to his own show on the CW. I do wish they would use the same actor for the movies as the show. The different actor might throw some people off (especially if he sucks). We'll just have to wait and see on that. Not saying showcase 4 won't ever be the "#2" book. But I do seem to notice a certain price resistance at some levels that I do not see with hulk 1. Hulk 1 has obviously cooled in some mid grades the last few months. But that is likely the calm before the storm. The more I see about the third Thor movie the more it looks like Planet Hulk. -J. Kinda makes you wonder if it's not time to think about getting a Hulk 1 if prices are a little weak. I was noticing one in the marketplace - a really nice looking 4.5 with nice paper that is (I believe) well below what a SC4 would sell for. If Hulk and Flash start trading positions, it's like a race. Imagine that!
  18. Maybe one of the best covers on a SA DC. I wonder if the original art exists / survived?
