What if I fade the entire cover (both the front and back) together?

Depends on your needs. If you're a collector, one will suffice for your collection. Or maybe another one if you're picking up for somebody else. If you're a speculator, flipper, and /or dealer you'll probably take them all.

Kinda looks like Wally Wood.

Wow! A 35 cent price variant.

Sometimes you need a break. As much as I adore my wife, occasionally, we take separate vacations. Does wonders. Maybe you need a break from comics. I took a 10-year break from comics back in the 90s, I still don't buy many books. But I enjoy what I have.

With the current interest in Eternals, I decided to check out what I had. I was pleasantly surprised to find this,

Huge water stain on front and back cover and likely some interior pages, as well as rusty staples with minor interior rust migration.
one of the nicest 4.5's i've ever seen.
What's really surprising is there are no signs of water damage on the interior pages No stains or tide lines, other than the rust migration. The pages were all warped and wavy before the press. The presser did a good job of flattening each page. I would say all the pages are OW/W. For the amount of water damage that shows on the covers, I'm amazed the pages inside look so good.

I really want to grade this book higher but those tide lines are just too big, extending nearly book length both horizontally and vertically. The staple rust has migrated. I'm at 4.5, maybe 5.0 tops. Sorry.
I tend to agree with your assessment. I was thinking it was in the VG range because of those glaring flaws. But damn! It is a nice book otherwise after it was pressed. I'm just wondering if I could have mitigated the severity of those flaws by airing out the book immediately instead of keeping it in the bag all those years.

A little background: I purchased this comic through The Buyer’s Guide back in the late 70s. It was advertised as NM, What I received was a water-damaged comic, still wet in the bag. I was so angry and disgusted that I felt like throwing it away. I ended up stashing it away with some junk comics. Flash forward to now. I rediscovered it in a box and it brought back bad memories. I decided to have it pressed. Here are the results. It actually doesn’t look too bad. There’s still a lot of gloss and surprisingly, the page quality is actually pretty good. The waviness is gone and it lays flat. The downside is the tide lines and rusty staples. What would you grade it?

That's an acceptable percentage. I think I'll roll the dice. Thanks.
?!?!?! Acceptable percentage? Do you go to a service to get something done only to find out they screw it up about one-third of the time? Is one in three acceptable anywhere else?

I would agree with this it is disrespectful to take a graded comic and crack it for any reason other than to press it and have it bumbed up a grade (if possible) or signed. I don't even like restored so no don't do it. As for the readers please find a copy you can still read. To unslab a comic being a non-professional and in my personal opinion you will immediately decrease grade and value while its un-slabbed then put it in storage and mark the grade but the grade isn't the same anymore it got damaged. (?) Also just opening a cover can and will defect grade or looking through pages. If no 1 cares about grade and value a poor cheap 1 can be bought why pay top dollar for same words same artwork
?
Disrespectful? To whom? "Non-professional?" Is a graded comic to be only bought and sold by a professional? Sure it may not make economic sense to break a graded comic out of its slab, but it's yours to do whatever you want. Being "disrespectful and unprofessional" is your prerogative. Ain't nobody's business but your own.

Yeah, I meant more on the financial front. A person can make good on that. The other stuff (kharma, etc), I guess that depends on the individual situations.
Looking forward to hearing about the China Adventure (as I said before). No surprise you lost weight. Last time you were posting regular, you were surviving on McDoubles. Living in a place with no processed garbage food and (most likely) walking instead of driving, you're going to be healthier. Awhile back, we (me and the wife) changed our diet up. Minimal carbs/processed food (very little bread, no pasta, no french fries, etc). Dropped a bunch of weight doing (literally) nothing. After we started this (over a year ago), we had a friend come over to visit. We went out to a burger joint. Decided to "cheat" and ate the burger with the bun and some fries. Within 30 minutes, just felt so horrible. I can't even imagine what the difference was like for you (coming back to the States after that much time abroad).
Had to be brutal on your body.
McDonald's, KFC, and Pizza Hut have a major presence in China, especially in the larger cities. When I was in China last year, these restaurants were all over the place. There's plenty of opportunities to chow down on burgers, fried chicken, and pizza. But you're right in that Chinese food, in general, is more healthy than the junk food you get here.
