This is an awesome idea. I have a feeling you'll get a lot of bids. This is a piece of OA history. Almost everyone in the community has heard of this specific piece.

I think you can still change the starting price before there is a bid. I think you should also sell the sizzle a bit on the history of this piece, and how you will be turning this unfortunate situation into a positive for the comics community. I would also get Scoop to include an article with a link to your auction. And then I would have a dozen OA fans go and comment about this auction on their boards...

 

Heck I don't even collect OA but I wouldn't mind throwing a quick bid to help the cause...in fact you could even list the possible future uses of this POS as a benefit to your bidders.
