Speaking from a LITERARY standpoint, are there any instances where the devil "gets one over on the Guy Upstairs" (as JoeQ put it)? I mean, where has the devil been able to act against God without God's consent?

 

I might not be remembering my books properly but any sort of example is escaping me. There is a point to this since it was the motivation for Mephisto in OMD/BND. The problem is it doesn't really follow literary precedent. All of us are upset because "magic" just "fixes" everything in broad sweeping brushstrokes. It doesn't follow precedent. In like fashion, where in literature do we see Judeo-Christian depictions of the devil getting one over on that Judeo-Christian God? :shrug:

 

Just One More Reason this series has fallen victim to the "Good Idea Fairy"
