Best way to sell my collection in one shot...without getting raped on it.

Thanks for all the advice, and kind words guys. I just have a TON of stuff, making the time to sell it all off individually, or in small lots, packaging, shipping, grading etc etc. is nearly impossible.

I don't get this - have you been in an accident or are medically unsound?

If so, then I understand your concern and a dealer is the best route. If not, then get your hass in gear and sell off the top 10% of your books privately, then let the dealers pick up the scraps. You'll make far more money that way.

Let's see the sales thread! :applause:

I usually charge 25% to sell stuff on consignment. I would say you would be lucky to get 40% of guide if you sell it in one swoop. I don't know why you don't have a week to move the better stuff here. I am sure alot of it should sell. I also don't know your situation but if I had the money right now, I would pick up your stuff. I may know someone who has the money but again, they are going to want to get it at around 40% if that.

also, it's a friendly bunch of people here- I'm sure that given the situation, many here would be glad to make a purchase or two to help you out if you put up a sales thread.

Best of luck anyway!

Agreed! Andrew, I think you'd do well with selling many of your books here compared to other venues. Lots of cool people here always looking to help others out too!

I'd be willing to tap into our meager savings to help you. Got anything you'd sell for half of what I could flip it for in the next week? (shrug)

Seriously though, if you do have to liquidate the whole lot quickly, at least get taken by a fellow board member. I'm sure someone here would be able to top the best offer of your local dealers. I think that's the only way to minimize your losses if you're going to sell it all at once...

If its an emergency and you need the money, then honestly you do what you have to do.

If not, I am sure you can do pretty well selling here and/or consigning what does not sell to get you by.

All depends on your situation.

Dude, if you need the money, why not get all the money you can for it? Time and packaging? What does that matter when you have a few X-Men 1's an AF 15 etc. It seems to me if you have money problems or whatever, getting the most out of the big ticket items is not only sound but the only way to go. Plus, the big books might alleviate money problems for quite some time. IMO it is foolish to sell in bulk to a dealer, especially when there is Clink and the boards to bail you out.

Gee, i'm in complete agreement with JC, here....... :o

Forumites are typically looking for very sweet deals, BUT, you could probably sell the best stuff here for MORE than you'd get from a dealer. it might all go in a weekend.

Only you know how fast you have to dispose of everything.................even a couple handfuls of key books, might get you the cash you need.............. :wishluck:

even listing on ebay at 99c per item start bid will get you a better deal overall than any dealer.

no doubt, you'd be a dealer's "wet dream" walking in with that stack

for 20% guide.

The only way he'd get more excited is if it was a pornstar dropping it off

with a t-shirt that reads "I put out for comic geeks".

lol

It's easy to believe this but everyone's circumstances are different. It makes sense with a small amount of highly marketable material, but what if you have 3000 books to sell? How long does it take to list all that? Potentially you could have 1500 or more packages to make and shipments to track. What if you need the money by the Ides of March?

Taking a bunch of bronze and throwing in 3-5 unrelated keys sure feels NeatStuff-ish, though... lol Take a picture with a mass of Richard Dragon, Claw, and Warlords spread out helter-skelter and stick the AF-15 on top of the pile.... hm
