I used to do the same thing but haven't scanned them in. (ie. superheroes, matching artists style, D&D pictures... ) And there's some real talent there to. Great job! BTW, this semester is going to be a real challenge with a ton of reading and report writing. And, to top it off, I'm interviewing for a new job. ( I still have my old job of 18 years but the Masters is opening up some opportunities already.) So.... I'll catch most of you around December. Happy early Halloween and Thanksgiving. fraxs-migration Posted September 25, 2009 Share Posted September 25, 2009 I painted this Spider-Man picture on a piece of wood (3'x4') sometime in 1992 when I was still in junior high. Image was originally from Spider-Man 12 or 13. I didn't like the way it was turning out, so I never finished it. Currently lives under my bed. A drawing I did of the Violator in high school (1994-95) The image was originally from Spawn#4. (24"x36") As you can tell I was into McFarlane for a bit there. Those were the only old drawings I could find around my apt. The rest are at storage. I remember drawing a picture of Spawn fighting the Violator and giving it to McFarlane at a comic signing. Wish I made a copy of it. I remembering it looking pretty awesome. This is a quick doodle I did of Sleepwalker the other day, after reading this thread. shiverbones Posted October 7, 2009 Share Posted October 7, 2009 (edited) I have had a few requests to post images from "The Thin Veil" the gallery show I was working towards which finally went up last Saturday. It's a huge relief to have this work done & now I can play on the boards again! Some of the pics are weak, but I don't have better images yet. The show was set up so that as you walked in, the paintings that were more typical of my older work slowly led into the newer stuff which deals more with the figure and is a bit more grim not having the cutesy mask of Animals as stand ins for people. Here's some of my stuff: I got into Bansky's graphitti style and basically just copied it here. The Cap image above was me trying to use his style. Oh yeah, your piece is so much more than the LB Cole and other assorted comic covers are. The layering and depth behind the web add so much to the dimentionality of the piece visually but also tonally and put a story-telling element completely missing from the comic covers.
