Damn! I hate it when my planet gets removed...! Very cool stuff... !

Shield, How about a nod to Barks, Marge/Stanley, maybe Walt Kelly..? How about a wall devoted to various characters' appearances in Four Color comics? That way you could have everything from Smilin' Jack, Tracy and Terry and the Pirates to Donald Duck, Little Lulu, Pogo, etc.

Or maybe the idea is to keep the room dark and forbidding enough that the kids never want to venture down there...? 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

I'm sure you're all aware that I'm buying a house, and the close date is December 5th! I'm going to get some MLJ prints blown up and print them as artwork for the basement walls (of course I'll photoshop them to make them "perfect" first), along with some non-MLJ books. I really like books like Fantastic #3 and some Centaur covers.

So, which covers would you get blown up from the golden age era to be framed to decorate your basement?

I was thinking off the top of my head:

Pep Comics #20 or #22 or #29

Archie Comics #8

Top-Notch Comics #2

Zip Comics #3

Hit Comics #5

Fantastic Comics #3

Amazing-Man #5

Any other thoughts? What are your favorite covers of the golden age from any publisher?

(No Action #1's or Detective #27's please...I never want to see these covers again!)

It's been a long time coming! Here are smaller versions of the scans that will be going up next. I pick these up next Monday! I found a place that will do them for $3.50 per sq. ft, or $10.50 per 18X24!

I just liked these covers for some reason....

Weird Comics #1 would be a good addition.

You should consider some of the pre-hero Detectives. They are among the best of all Golden Age covers.

You know? I absolutely agree with you. I love 1, 8, 16, and a few others - they're so simplistic (the cover idea) in many cases, yet so "1930's". I love 'em. It was tough to not just pick many of them.

I love #9, 11, 12, 15, 25, & 26. Used to own a #26, and I really regret parting with it.

Maybe someday...

Some artists to consider:

LB Cole: Mask 2 is a pretty dynamic cover.

Lou Fine: Wonderworld 7, Fantastic 3, etc.

Jack Cole: Silver Streak 6, Plas 1, Police 25

If you want to mix it up, they are posting the 20 bronze age covers in the bronze forum.
