I got this real beater yesterday. $3 and I probably overpaid. But now I have Warlord's first appearance and that's cool.

I remember that book was a real hot item back in day.  It's a shame the whole sword and sorcery genre is nowhere near as popular as it should be.

Finally back after 12+ months, from a NO press Economy Order.

Not pressed. While I do think a press might make it present a bit nicer in person the main reason for the 9.6 won't be helped by one.  Besides not going to pump any more dough into a OW paged book. Still it's very nice looking for a $5 purchase made back in 1995. It was the now classic Ploog cover that reeled me in back then

The #85 with 2nd Frank Miller artwork was a book I purchased as child just after the Twilight Zone movie was released.  Got it from a comic vendor at an indoor flea market.  A few year laters he would have his own store and I believe it survived 25 years. As I recall he had about a dozen GK Zones and I picked out the one in nicest condition.  I also recall he was getting $2.00-$3.00 for them which at the time was rather high. Seeing the #85 cover really brings back some nice childhood memories.

 

#84 "Frank Miller Rookie" in effect, was part of collection that had just been purchased by my LCS when I was a kid. They had not even been unboxed when I walked in. I picked up about 15 different issues.  BTW until this week I was not even aware I had the #84!   Thought I had 81 and 82 as it turned out it was 82 and 84. 

 

The scans make them appear a bit nicer than they actually are. #85 is a possible 9.4 that with a pressing I'm hoping will cement that grade or move it up to a 9.6. #84 I feel is a 9.0 or possible 9.2 if pressed? In past I've never had any book pressed as my stuff did not need it. But these will be part of a submission in which I will be having all books pressed.

Summer of 2022 appears to have been way too optimistic    It's now Mid Oct 2022 and they are finally back!

Appears my Grading estimates were spot on!

I've submitted many Comics to CGC over the past 22+ years and Zone 85 is one of few that has great personal meaning to me. It now represents the Comic I've owned the longest that I've submitted to CGC having acquired it originally as a child in Spring 1983.

Gone 10+ months but perfect to have it back in October. Thought with press it would go a bit higher. I've received 9.6's on many less nice books still not bad for a $1 purchase in 1996. From Rino, my go to local show seller back the day.

Reach out to Don Perlin, commission him to draw a squiggle on an acetate then and this is key have him staple the acetate onto the WBN 32 and then Voila! Simply pay CGC a fee to receive a Blue Label CGC10 grade.

 

 

Not exactly a wise-acre answer as pretty much the exact thing has been done on other books as recently as Aug 2022.
