If we could find a third of the owners of these books I would be super excited. Maybe we can have Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird do some small side project for the owners of the books that we can help finance as a group. Like a quick fresh take on the cover signed by both or something..

If Eastman and Laird want to give me a special thing I won't stop them. Finding a third is a tall task. We haven't even found .02% of them. I wonder how many copies are sitting in a landfill somewhere, cast aside by moms and chelonaphobics in the late 80s.

I see there is a 9.8 Qualified #1 on Clink this month. I wonder if the GLOD will affect the overall selling price as much as it would another book. This will be very interesting to watch. The sig placement is alright but I think I still prefer the number 1's with the interior sigs only. Still a great book. Good luck to the seller!

Mine has the same marks. It's really ugly and it's on the inner slab not the book.

Also: does anyone have any links to frames that would fit a slabbed Turtles #1 1st print?

 

It's not as small as a conventional CGC frame, but it's not as big as the magazine frames......and I distinctly recall another thread that talks about the size differences between 1st, 2nd & 3rd prints of #1.

The CGC slab for the early TMNT issues is the same size as a magazine slab so a frame for a magazine should fit. I don't actually have a slabbed magazine but I have a CGC magazine box and they fit perfectly in there.

I know for a fact that the diamond distributor in Boston tossed 300 of them in the garbage back in the 80's. It makes me woozy to think about how much money that would be these days.

 

What's the story with that?
