Planet Comics 9.6+

20 posts in this topic

I like Planet Comics. They have some great colorful and creative covers. Stories are above average too. These books are great to see in high grade. I understand that most anything 8.0-8.5 or higher is definitely high gradefor most issues. Anyway, I was looking at the CGC census for the entire 73 issue Planet run and noticed that there are a total of 21-9.6's and 7- 9.8's . I have only ever seen two 9.6 Planets and zero 9.8's before and was wondering if anyone on the boards owned any of these beauties. I wondered if they were hoarded away by one collector or spread out among many. Does anyone on the boards own any of these? Would anyone like to "show" the rest of us Planet lovers what an almost 70 year old book looked like in that high grade.

I think the owner of Metropolis Comics owns the Mile High Planet run....that would account for the 9.6 and 9.8's....but I could be wrong.GOD BLESS...

The Planet #53 in the link above was one of the ones I had seen before. It is truely one awesome book. The only other is a #58. I would really like to see some of the early Planets.

I sent a nice email to Metropolis(Frank) and asked about what this thread said about them owning the high grade books and inquired about a price and what the exact issues were if they did in fact own them.

No resonse and I emailed about a week ago.

Could it be just a rumor or is it a fact that they own them?

I believe they are in Stephen's (owner of metro) private collection. Not sure though
