I used to find quite a few comics and pulps up there. Portland is an old area and it rains a lot so kids were stuck inside. A lot of general antique dealers would run into them. But, like everywhere, stuff is drying up…

It is Jim's - he has a great spot right at the front by the main entrance.  That stack had a bunch of great books in there, Gold/Silver.

Picked up a small collection from a little podunk auction house. Mostly lower grade stuff, about 250 books. A lot of fun stuff from all genres. Here are the highlights...

Went to a local antique fair today. Comics were fairly slim pickings, and the booths that did have books were way over-priced, but I did manage to find a couple of things.

First, spent $3 total on these:

 

A beat-up but complete Batman 224:

 

A sealed Superman DC 2-pack:

 

And a Kingdom Come thin preview book that I noticed was signed by Alex Ross and Mark Waid:

 

Then I spent $5 on this Superman record set. Not a crazy get, but it's pretty cool:

Found a guy on Marketplace doing a $1-a-book sale out of his garage, basically by appointment. I went and checked it out today - pretty picked over (he told me, "one guy came in and bought every 12-center I had!" ), but I still found a few things. Nothing crazy, but some fun stuff at least.

Thanks! The wallet came from an antique mall I like to frequent where most of the vendors are toy/comic/collectible-related. It looked like I was going to come out empty handed on that particular trip, and then I found that wallet on a random shelf and was just like "Yoink!"

Picked up a wonderful eclectic lot yesterday locally from an antique dealer. Gave him my contact info in case he gets more stuff like this in the future. Great condition for the age on most of these and I absolutely love how each one is like a little time machine in what characters and subjects were popular back in those decades. Sadly, the Dick Tracy books are all the 1982 Chicago Tribune Reprints, but that's a minor thing. The last picture shows the comic equivalent of a Happy Ending on one of them, as well. A nice surprise. 😎

Is now a bad time to say that most of the hulk, Namor, and others like that also had the newsstands, and or errors?

Lol, congrats, the search continues somehow for some, amazingly I find the hulk direct most often as opposed to the x-men. Count that a win as well!

I think they all had newsstands while the Avengers also had a price error
