Were they for sale for $1 each, or is that the usual Craigslist ad junk?

Did you end up buying all of them?

I was worried about the typical craigslist thing - but was a decent haul. I did buy all of them - which included a box of coverless drek (lol - just hinting for ASM 1 or AF15 in there)

Was a little more than 1 a book - but not much (for the actual books - not the coverless junk)

they said that was a typo

the couple of craigslist scores I have had - tended to be like 20% 12 and 15 cent books - the rest higher even through older bronze. This one? - more than 50% silver age and probably 80% or more were DC/Marvel. Overall - I know I paid more than I probably should have - but as I was doing the quick sort - I kept seeing book after book that was a $10 ticket.

Some images to start us off - random bats, silvers and the first mini key ---

more pulls -

FF goodness and an older hulk

some of the older ones are beat - but a 2.0 FF 50 is still a good score

the little mini book is from 1966 - has a 1" spine split - but still cool -

The FF 48 hid from me for a bit - I thought I imagined it for a while......

ASM haul - 32, 35, 36, 38, 41 (torn cover), 42-45, 49, 51, 53-56, 62, 66, 69-71, 74, 76, 93, 102, 109 x2, 110, 114-117, 119, 120, 122, 123 (what a tease - no 50, 129 etc - but still COOL)

good stack of superman and family stuff - and batman/tec.

Avengers - mad haul -

18, 21, 22, 25, 30, 31, 41, 42, 44, 48, 49, 60, 62, 64, 67, 101, 104-108, 111-113

and a huge set of daredevil - (earliest issues are beat - but a 2.0 12 center is a 2.0 12 center)

12, 13, 19-24, 29-34, 36, 37, 44, 46 x2, 48, 54, 63, 88, 89, 91-100, 102

add to this a ton of random books and the prerequisite 2 short boxes of archies/dells - a strong haul for a Tuesday......

They are pretty low grade - but still worth some $$$ -

I actually have a graded WMD already - so great to be able to sell an undercopy (though the WMD is really a reprint of the 1st appearance) - the one you see - really a 2.0 or lower - you can see a rough spine tear in the pic

I hope one day I have enough knowledge that I could look through that much stuff and actually know what is valuable and what isn't.

much easier once you get them back to look over - for larger groups you have to just kind of average - and it is a risk. I am NOWHERE near as good as many here (see Chip!) - just have fallen into some decent scores recently. Note that the pics probably look a lot better than the grades - the silves are VG average - meaning some are G - some (more the newer) range to FN. I do not mind dealing in these kinds of books though, as less overall risk (the buy price does not break you).

Oh my lord... What a score!!! :) you plan on keeping or selling?

I usually keep and sell - my goal with any big buy is to be able to sell as much of the bulk as possible - to be bale to keep 10% or so.

Slabbing - so far ( and really have only begun to bag/board and inventory ) - the IM 55 is the one that seems worthwhile - might be able to press to a 6 or better.

I know it's a reprint, but its still sought after. FF #45 is on fire - plus 1st Black Bolt (Vin Diesel?) as well. Congrats again!

quick update -

first hundred sorted and bagged - covered the ASM, FF, IM and X-Men

All of the "keys" (any level) of the big ones have been posted - no idea of the full count yet - but probably 1000+ total.

Anyone on the hunt - NEVER turn down the items that people want to throw in. The sellers grabbed all from some estate sale - including a box of what appeared to be coverless drek - I basically told them I would take them but no real increase in $$$ -

dug through this -

6a222b5313284749b736f37c0f62488b.jpg

Resulted in a stack of 25 more books (and some paperbacks) -

0eb56728170f6d1a93fe13aab5816751.jpg

No showstoppers - but G to VG books with 12c to 15c cover price - nothing to sneeze at....

After pulling out the big names and looking over the rest - the whole thing has the look of a "neatstuff" auction - but at 1/10 the price. Will hopefully get a final count later today.

The coverless might have value in the Custom Binding community, depending on what's in there. Using cover scans some hobbyist might be able cobble together a shelf-worthy custom hardcover of some favorites.

The cover-less were really junk - I think the only real book was a silver surfer 3 - and that was trashed. I went through all of them to double check - looking for ones that might be of use to someone (as very early ASM/FF would not have been out of place)

Most were 1970+ dates as well - so in the strange reverse thing - the coverless books were newer -

probably 70% were also cartoon books (not marvel/DC)

My wife came home from a garage sale with this for me.

I was quite thrilled. Love the cover art by Wall Wood.

It's nothing special, but I like it. I always love the dialogue balloons that start with "Great Scott!"

Anyone else have LP's like this?

The ipad camera really cannot do these justice - they are from a pick last week - just got back from the framers.

All three of the posters - not mint - but really close. Some wrinkling around the edges - but no tearing and it looks like they were never hung up!!!

Need to go get a black-light or two.....
