I've never even seen this book before!  Amazing how much there is to discover if you do a deep dive into Atlas.

I've loved this cover since I first saw it years ago and finally picked up a decent copy this week. The colouring of the rather macabre chap in the background is quite brilliant:

He has a pretty mouth.

This cover creates a lot of curiosity - is the background guy conjuring some kind of vision to distract pretty mouth man?  Seems like he's wrong footed.

Who wouldn't be wrong footed by a spooky green faced bloke conjuring massive yellow bubbles out of thin air behind you just as you thought you'd gotten away with gorging on a whole weeks allocation of cherries.

Maybe it's just me, but after paying / buying / accepting the escalating prices for Silver and Bronze Age CGC "Key" Marvel books on Ebay (and elsewhere), alternative comics such as this (Flintstones #16 in CGC 9.6) for $700 seems like an INCREDIBLE BARGAIN. 

• 1st Appearance of a Major Flintstone Character (Bamm-Bamm)
• CGC 9.6 is the Highest Grade for this Item (Probably all 9.4 and 9.6 on Census of this book are File Copies).
• A CGC Census Population of just 10.  That's right...just 10 books.
• "Key" Silver Age Gold Key Comic from January 1964 which makes it nearly 60 years old.
• Like Scooby Doo and other "kiddies" comics, these early Flintstone books from the 1960's were read, enjoyed and abused. 

Heck, I would love to get myself the matching high grade companion to the 1st appearance of Bamm-Bamm.  However, I don't think this will ever happen.  There are only (5) graded copies of Flintstones #11 (1st appearance of Pebbles) on the CGC census.   Furthermore, there is only (1) high grade example in CGC 9.4.  The next highest grade of Flintstones #11 drops down many steps to CGC 7.0.

I was fortunate to recently locate another high grade copy of Flintstones #16 (1st App. of Bamm Bamm ; January 1964).

 

However, this puppy was raw / uncertified when I found it on Ebay.   Well, it just came back from CGC as a 9.4 (OW/W Pages). 

 

I'm now the happy camper of (2) copies of this bad boy.
