1998 Subaru Forester in black, with all the stuff. It was the first one ever sold in Virginia - for about six months people would stop me and ask what it was, that was relatively cool.

Am looking for a 1979 or 1980 International Harvester Scout with the Suntanner package. I'll pay a lot for one if you can find it with no rust.

Two Jeep Grand Cherokees soon to find themselves replaced by a small 4x4 pick-up with cap and either a Honda CRV or Subarau Legacy. Maine winters require some 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive vehicles and current gas prices dictate better gas mileage.

Hey! I paid a special tax to preclude people like you from giving me ca-ca about that. 893naughty-thumb.gif

2002 Ford Explorer Limited 4X4 with a V8 (yes, my fellow San Franciscans hate me). And when I trade it in eventually, I am going to get another Explorer. I love this car.

Who said anything about me driving American? confused.gif

As for quality issues, I work on repairing cars for a living, grin.gif, I never said American cars are the bomb, but I know VWs are bombs 27_laughing.gif

Well, i dont repair cars all day long, but i do work for Cummins up here in canada in their engine remanufacturing plant. We have contracts with not only ford, chrysler and chevy (saturn), we also deal with VW, mitsubishi and subaru. I can tell you from sorting and stripping hundreds of engines a day...european and japaneese engines are in phenomenally better shape than american engines. Youll feel differently when your staring at thousands upon thousands of neon engines with holes the size of grapefruits in them. thumbsup2.gif

Now there's a vehicle. I know people that have put ungodly mileage on them.

My tale of vehicular woe--I got married, had a kid, and now primarily drive a Camry with an automatic transmission. frown.gif How this happened, I'll never figure out. I still have my Saturn SC2 with a 5 speed, but hardly my dream car.

Now if someone could find me an immaculate, dark green 1970 Dart Swinger, I'd be in heaven. There's a Bronze Age beauty. We had one for 20 years, and it was essentially my car. Had 86,000 miles on it when the odometer broke after 8 years. It was my beach car-made endless trips to the Jersey shore in it. Fast as hell, great engine, and I only lost it when some drunken turkey made a left turn into the driver side.

Two things about VWs:

1. All last summer this guy in the area had a new VW (I think it was a Passat) sitting in his driveway on a main road. The hood was up, and he had three bags of lemons hanging from the hood over the engine. One frustrated dude, I am sure. 893frustrated.gif

2. A local radio station did a call-in where gay men could voice what their favorite car or truck was. Let's just say the Beetle is veeeery popular with the rainbow crowd. So the next time that guy is tailgating you, remember that he may just be checking you out 893whatthe.gifconfused-smiley-013.gif

Ahh, cars cloud9.gif

In my honest opinion, most reliable cars and low maint. are #1 Toyota, # 2 Honda, great cars to work on. American cars dont make my to 10 list, but VW are no where on my list 893whatthe.gif
