Well if you count the time bluray has been out...Mr Lucas is simply trying to maximize his revenue...

 

I did get the prequels on DVD but not the originals...it was my way of protesting all of these revisions and whatnot. I will get the 9 disk set and be done with it.

 

Now the big debate is the fact that the "Special Editions" versions will be there not the originals. God I hope he doesn't tweak with them more.

I'm ok with that if there's a market for it...I just don't want anymore content update. I wouldn't doubt it if he goes into EP1 and makes Yoda digital like EP2 and EP3.

That's a link to the DVD set with the original theatrical versions as a bonus disc. Unfortunately, the originals were just thrown on DVD from the old laserdisc master and weren't even anamorphically enhanced for widescreen. But at least they are on there.

 

EDIT: Actually, I don't think they are available in the boxset anymore, they only sell them individually.

You need to have video tape versions

I bought the special editons that have the theatrical versions on DVD but they look HORRIBLE on my 52 inch TV. I will only get Blu Ray if they have theatrical cuts and not American idol at Jabba's Palace.

3-D Blus are picking up steam, even in New Hampshire.
