Should Bans Be Forever?

157 posts in this topic

There are all sorts of stories about Redhook. Only thing that needs to be known is the boards are poorer for not having him. Nothing else to discuss.

Not true. Of course there's something else to discuss when it comes to Brad. Here's part of it.

What a sad ending to a fun endeavor.

I'm just having a quick thought here...there are a few contributors that I think helped the hobby and these boards over the years that were subsequently banned for one reason or another...

So...that got me thinking...

Who has been banned from the boards that you would like to see post again, and do you think a ban should have a "parole" hearing?

Talk amongst yourselves.

Before you all jump in and say Redhook think about this.He wrecked Cap and Mandi after holding them hostage for how long?Im sure Kenny could post the defaced c&m.

He tried a scam on ebay.Goon may have deserved this but please.

Brad did add a lot to the boards...both good and bad.I vote no.

I still don't understand what could possess a grown man to take a stupid picture that was sent around as a joke to take pictures with and do what he did. If I remember didn't he try and extort Ze-man into trying to get him unbanned from these very boards for the "safe return" of the picture ?

I don't know about you but that sounds like someone who is seriously unstable to me.

Thats what I remember also.He gave Kenny all kinds of mess for "going to the darkside" by pressing and restoring books.

The one banned boardie I miss above all others is Major Khaos. He had a nifty way with words and was good fun. He got banned because he wanted to (he goaded Arch into throwing him out).

^^

I disagree, but I admire your loyalty.

I think Comicdey does.

Man, that Cap and Mandi thing was one of the best things to ever make it to these boards. For those that had not heard about it, it was a beautiful thing.

Can someone give the story of what it was and what happened?

This was around the time I was AWOL from the boards.

Cap and Mandi was basically a Kamandi comic in a slab and a USPS box with a pic of Cap on it.

The two were literally mailed around the world to volunteering board members where pics were taken of "Cap and Mandi" in their surroundings.

It was started by Ze-man who took them for a night on the town.

I had them in 2007 or so and took them on a drinking binge and introduced them to some hot waitresses and took them for a ride in a Benz at 220 KPH (hence the "thanks for visiting K-town" and "life begins at 220" pic).

From what I remember they were also in Greece and even on military duty in Afghanistan and visited about a dozen or so board members before Red Hook took them hostage and wouldn't return them.

Brad did email me some sort of explanation on the NOD boards regarding their captivity but I don't remember the details right now.

Suffice to say that Cap and Mandi was one of those things that I will never forget. Just a pie slice of spontaneous awesome that really made something special about this place.

Does everyone have me on ignore or what?

Here's from Brad's recent (today) Journal entry.

Clarification.

The addition of the picture of Nik to the Cap n' Mandi package was my tribute to him. The drawing of Cap (which I originally did btw) was removed and filled with blac as a symbol of the loss of a good friend.

I knew Nik. Visited with him at his garage. I miss him too.

End of story. Thanks to all the folks who wish me back. All is well on my end and I post semi-regularly on www.comiccollectors.org.

Best to you all,

Brad
