Don't know if it's dollar bin material right now, but If it is I don't think it will be for long.

Really loved this series.

Question for those who may have a later printing of the tpb. In the first printing of the tpb, the last 20-25 pages were extensively redrawn & rewritten to give a completely different ending than what was presented in the original limited series. Have later printings of the tpb kept the original storyline or reprinted the 1st tpb storyline?

Maybe we should look outside of MARVEL Comics for Copper Investments. (shrug)

Definitely!

How about Judge Dredd #1's from Eagle Comics. I hear those are great to track down.

Anyone? Anyone?

How about Xenozoic Tales?

a absolutely wish i could find xenozoic anywhere, dollar bins or wall books. the only place you see them is ebay any the prices are usually steep.

Both the #282 and the #283 have circulation statements of 460,000 - most of which, I'm sure, still exist in pristine bagged & boarded (or sealed in cases) form somewhere.

Michael, I think this number is low for this one. I'm assuming you're getting these from Krause's Standard Catalog Of Comic Books, which is a valuable tool but it has one serious flaw in the circulation data it provides: it goes by the annual averages and not actual copies of any particular issue.

As I'm sure you remember, Uncanny X-Men was on an upward trend back in those days with each issue practically selling more than the one before. Furthermore #281 coincided with the release of the mega-selling X-Men #1 and the mutant mania was in full bloom, with #282 following right after that and being mentioned in the trade papers as a potentially "hot" issue.

I have no doubt that this one had at least 650-700 thousand copies.

(And yes, most of them exist in pristine bagged & boarded condition with sealed cases still available. (thumbs u )

You're absolutely right - in my haste, I overlooked the fact that it was the annual average and not the pr. issue data.

Which just makes it even more a dud from a potential investment perspective

First Bishop Uncanny X-men #282

A pretty cool character, just as cool as Cable or Gambit and look at what their first appearances go for.

Uncanny-X-Men-282.jpg

Oh, yes, please start hoarding this one :wishluck:

You never know - once you've gathered up the first 450,000 copies and put them to the fire, the remaining 10,000 copies might actually be worth something

you honestly think there are only 460,000 copies out there?

the problem with some many of these popular books is that Mile High may very well have 40,000 copies and some other dealers with similar stockpiles. as of right now they're easily available on the interweb for $2-$4 from these sources. it would take quite a run on these issues to get the prices to change.

then again, there's always 266 and NM 98 (though NM 98 likely had a vastly smaller print-run than 282 even if Liefield was very popular and had been on NM for a year by then, so I think the circulation was way up from sub-100K like when he took over)

282 would probably be a good issue to stick up on the wall for $5-$8 if you own a comic shop and Bishop makes a comeback, but with sooooo many copies on the interweb, I dunno if it's a good ebay/internet investment, even out of the dollar box.

Like you say yourself, even if Bishop suddenly became relevant (which I personally doubt he will), the flood gates would immediately burst open with 10,000 high grade copies. From an investment perspective, this book is a certified dud.

While I agree it's a dud, it is from that time period when Marvels paper or ink was creating a waviness problem in certain books. I've seen it on a large number of this book, which could drop the number of high grade books (although if it was worth anything, pressing could probably take care of that).

The perspective I look at is it will not take much for it to double in price raw. An example let`s says its a dollar book right now in near mint, if and a big if Bishop every shows up in a X-men movie or gets his own movie(highly unlikely) then I could see this doubling to $2, so if you have $500 worth of copies of this and wait(might be a long wait) you may double your money. now before we all laugh and giggle. lol

$500 worth of Bishop that could double in 5 years might be a better investment maybe then just letting your $500 dollars sit in a savings account for five years.

You should be able to get that book in bulk for three to five cents each, so if the book goes to $2, you win.

I think X-men #282 has potential. It will be only a matter of time before Fox uses him in the movies.

I don't know how you find ASM 361 and IM 282 in dollar boxes. These have been big books for a while with speculation on both ends, and with the recent release of IM 2, the 282 has seriously shot up in popularity (though it could still go higher),

I think Carnage could be the mystery villain in future Spider-Man movies.

xfactor24.jpg

1st full appearance of Archangel.

Ok, what about X-FACTOR 24? It has a few things going for it,

His design is created by the same person who created Beta Ray Bill, the legendary Walt Simonson,

it`s X-men related (always a plus),

Great killer cover and his relation to Apocalypse and the Four Horsemen are pretty cool.

It`s a great book to read but it doesn`t seem to have the nostalgic factor, nostalgia plays an important part in the process, why is TMNT,Tranformers and GI Joe from the era so popular? A reason maybe most of the adults were kids/teens back then when they collected those titles and now seek them out for the nostalgia factor, I don`t think many kids bought Brat Pack back then.

Good and interesting pick. there is a cool action figure of Crossbones coming out with the new Captain America movie figures later in the year. hm
