WHAT IF? #34, What Gives?

Listed 12 hours ago and already up to $1577 in what may be "legit" bidding? Of course with eBay legitimate non market manipulative bidding is always on the table.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/313981277478?mkevt=1&mkpid=0&emsid=e11021.m43.l1120&mkcid=7&ch=osgood&euid=69b9d3ce87374ea5bb34553f9d911257&bu=43192897304&ut=RU&osub=-1~1&crd=20220503062129&segname=11021&sojTags=ch%3Dch%2Cbu%3Dbu%2Cut%3Dut%2Cosub%3Dosub%2Ccrd%3Dcrd%2Csegname%3Dsegname%2Cchnl%3Dmkcid

Huh? Yes it is a funny comic, and was in my top 5 childhood favorites! But why on earth is it at $1500+?

Books CGC Label CGC Total Avg. Grade 10 9.9 9.8 9.6 9.4 9.2 9.0 8.5 8.0 7.5 7.0 6.5 6.0 5.5 5.0 4.5 4.0 3.5 3.0 2.5 2.0 1.8 1.5 1.0 0.5
 What If? 34 (8/82, Marvel Comics) Universal 35 9.36     17 11 2 1   1       2 1

Has demand increased in some way that small supply of a zero interest issue is now way too tiny? Or a Case of 2 registry collectors that need the book? Or situation where Black Bolt attempting to sing "Satisfaction" or What If "Conan was "Bing (Crosby) Conan" is now sought after?  Perhaps the truly masterful What If "White Tiger fought Wendigo in a blizzard?" page?  1st Marvel Hot Foot cover?

Disclosure: I do own a copy but I simply do not get why the sudden interest?

No bids since the first 12 hours.  I'm calling shenanigans!

P.S. Just re-read the book there is still some stuff in there that had me literally laughing out loud. It may very well be the Greatest Single Reading Book Marvel has ever published.

Elektra: "Give up my life of Crime and Adventure" "Maybe I'll get married or something" :roflmao:

And you think that is isolated to eBay for some reason? Talk about drinkin' the Kool-Aid. :insane:

I watched the episode last night and I honestly can't recall anyone referring to her as the Scarlet Scarab.

What did I miss?

Seems to be the closest match.
As we have seen, the MCU content continues to distance itself from the comic material.

Her father in the show is Abdul Faoul and he had the scarab and then she got it back. She is a sort of hybrid. Her name is Layla El-Faouly. lol Probably to give the show a female hero. Pretty common with the tv and movie versions to change some of the original representation.

Makes sense but if that really makes people go speculate on Scarlet Scarab comics, they're nuts.  That's a character I needed to remind myself even existed.

Derek & The Dominos Collaboration with Johnny Cash and Other Rarities to Be Collected on Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs 50th Anniversary Box Set

Boyd inspired tracks;  George Harrison's/Beatles "I Need You", "If I Needed Someone", "Something" and "For You Blue", and Derek and The Dominoes "Layla", "Bell Bottom Blues", and Clapton's overplayed, overrated, and over-sappy "Wonderful Tonight".

She really was a beauty in those days.  Not hard to believe she was a muse as well.  Have all those tracks on iTunes

it is all kinds of wonky innit? Nice legs Subby!

I would have just turned 11 when this was published and while I don't recall this scene I do know I read Invaders when I was small. The things we accept when we are young.
