Then he had the tough job of following Steranko on Nick Fury. While no Steranko, he did just fine as a solo artist I think: And Frank Robbins takes a lot of abuse on these boards, but again as a solo artist, his Milton Caniff retro style works I think for Golden Age noir-ish characters like Batman: The problem is, I've never seen a combination of Robbins pencils + anybody's inks that particularly works. Especially if the inker was trying to fight Robbins' old-school style in an attempt to bring it in line with current tastes. Just didn't ever succeed, from what I've seen. Too bad he didn't do more. I read somewhere that this is the only work Cardy did for a color Marvel Comic Book. I posted two copies of Marvel Chillers #1 here on the boards a couple of weeks ago that sold immediately, and then on right after on eBay that moved also.
