the authority
I'm not sure if this has been mentioned here but Dreadstar which was scheduled to be a movie is now a TV series. Epic Illustrated #3 started moving yesterday. This was already a decent seller but I think TV vs movie is big news. Here is the news. http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=59386 http://www.bleedingcool.com/2015/02/17/jim-starlins-dreadstar-development-television/ 4 copies in 8.0 sold at $39.99 each http://www.ebay.com/itm/EPIC-ILLUSTRATED-3-Metamophosis-Odyssey-MOVIE-First-DREADSTAR-STARLIN-VF-8-0-/251577106839?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item3a932a0197&nma=true&si=ItJCKWCS6w6b2BSavnpVFy1EGT0%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

DavidTheDavid
I loved Dreadstar, curious to see what they do with the tv show. That's exciting news to me. Not going hunting for those comics, but would enjoy reading a reprint of them,
the blob
seriously, dreadstar 1, like epic, is 100 in 9.8? i have been passing on those in 50 cent boxes for years. i loved that series (at least for a while), there is just a limit to the number of #1s I wanted to own. kind of like alpha flight 1. Aweandlorder
I agree, some of the Drekstar books are very common.. Also the Marvel graphic novel is very common.. I would look into books like The Price/Eclipse as a possible investment as it has a relatively low print run and introduces Syzygy and Lord Papal

Which, of course is why HG copies may be of interest - 50 cent boxes have a way of creasing books significantly.
the blob
i have my doubts these are hard in 9.8. some of these were bagged and boarded. a lot were printed. good cover stock too, no? i think nobody had bothered slabbing many until now. fact is, 95% of the books out there printed after 1980 were routinely in 50 cent boxes. at my old LCS in the late 90s the 50 cent box books were some of the better back issues (your x-men books and stuff like that) as he had 25 cent and dime books too. it took a lot to get a bag and a board and a $1 or better price tag. FlyingDonut
Here's a hint. Buy my books at the VCC, because in the last two of them I've sold books that have been movied almost instantly after I shipped them. Dreadstar? Terrific.
HighStakesComics
Wow. Jim Starlin is going to personally handle the adaption. Thanks for the tip, FD. Any action on Epic #3 yet?

ygogolak
The funny part about Dreadstar is that it was optioned last year for a film. I guess it fell through. So what's the chances TV is any better?
the authority
I'm hoping they are good. I didn't think the movie idea was big enough anyway. This was Starlin's baby and it was a very big deal when it came out.

Almost anything I sell will double or triple in 1-3 months. 10 copies of Saga 1 shipped for $300? by the time the books got to the buyer they were selling for $75-$100. and I had already sold a bunch of copies for $6-$20 each before then. i have a knack for selling early. Broke as a Joke
I think Dreadstar is much better suited in this day and age for television. You can't compete with Star Wars and Marvel films every other month, but put out a solid sci-fi/fantasy TV program and I believe you can carve out a niche depending on time and channel. I'm rooting for it to succeed.
