gadzukes
Must be an alignment of the planets right now for this many Archie 1s to be selling at the same time. Plus the 6.5 that sold last week. And there's a #2 being sold on ebay too.
Sqeggs
Actually this is a great idea … aside from posting our own we should post images of what we know is out there and graded. Here are three currently up for auction … not sure who the current owners/would-be-club-members are, or who the next owners will be, but let's consider this a visual catalog and an invitation to the new owners to claim their rightful place among the group. SparkleCity eBay Auction ending in 5.5 days (Current Price: $5,500) Up to $6,100 with five days to go. Not bad for a 2.5 with a detached cover and brittle pages. GoldenPRGuy
Yeah I am super curious to know where this will end after the price from the other day!
GoldenPRGuy
And not to add clutter for clutter's sake, but I suppose we should pay homage to this Bad..M.F. that sold for $167k on Ha in '12. WANT!!!
gadzukes
Yeah I am super curious to know where this will end after the price from the other day! Hey GoldenPRGuy.... did you ever get either of your #1s slabbed. Or any of your other copies?
GoldenPRGuy
Nope, not yet. I'm really torn to be honest. On one hand I'd love to know what CGC grades them; on the other, they are not for sale so I'm not sure why I'd do it. I did consider submitting for fun and then cracking them out, but … and I am far from cheap … 3% of FMV based on what these latest auctions have been bringing seems like a waste of money if I'm gonna open 'em. Rest assured if I send them … or when I purchase a 3rd copy, I'll be sure to update this thread!
BaltimoreLauren
That 1.0 is mighty attractive to me. I'm tempted to get it, sell my 4.0, and use whatever's left for another Bat 1. Tough choices.

gadzukes
Would somebody please explain to me what just happened on Comic Connect with the 1.0 Archie 1? $13,204?? Edited December 11, 2013 by gadzukes
gadzukes
$13,204 is almost the same as the last Batman 1 1.0 that sold. $13,204 is more than the last Captain America 1 3.0 that sold. $13,204 is almost as much as the last All-Star 8 5.0 that sold. Archie 1 is making a STATEMENT
Jimmy Linguini
I think a strong argument can be made that Archie is the comic book character with the most stories published. Archie #1 going even higher in value just sounds like it would make sense.

The funny thing is, because this is a CC auction it wont be listed on GPA. So the last GPA Archie 1 CGC 1.0 will still be listed at $6000 Edited December 11, 2013 by gadzukes

And remember..... there was an underbidder on this one going toe to toe the whole time. I wonder if it was just one other collector bidding at the end or a couple?
