Ok, just to show you I wasn't kidding, here's a preliminary list I was able to dig up. I can add a few more columns if you guys want to see other types of data, if it's available from my software that is. One example is the "Notes" column. I'm pulling this from my ComicBase DB that I just upgraded to version 16 of. I'm finding it easier to run reports from and I know a little SQL so it's not that hard for me.

 

I know that some titles are missing. For example TRUE TO LIFE ROMANCES isn't yet listed because I have to add that title to the DB (I guess it's not that popular of a title among CB users!). SPORT THRILLS and BINGO COMICS #1 are two other ones that need adding on.

 

But besides all of that, here's the list! If you have any other additions let me know and I'll edit the software when I can. It's up to 322 covers, then add on the others that I mentioned that are missing and you're likely near 350.

I'm aware of a few of the CI issues that he did, as I own a few of the cover proofs, and I'll update them as I locate them. I've seen 3 or 4 of the TWAU issues credited to Cole, but if anyone has any info I'd be glad to document it.

 

Without the CI / TWAU issues I count 370 covers total.

 

I'll re-run the list after I update the CI issues at least. Maybe after I add the above issues into the DB too. We'll see.

Yes! That does help a lot. I was able to find each and every one of those issues. In some cases (mostly with the CI Jr.'s) there are multiple reprints but I'm putting L.B. Cole's name on all of them just to be complete.

 

With those additional books that makes 387 covers so far (not including reprints) and counting!

Thanks. I guess the only copies that ARE reprints on the list are the Accepted Publication reprints. Honestly, I'm not sure if they should be counted as entirely different issues or not but either way there aren't THAT many of them.

 

Do you (or anyone) consider the AP reprints of lesser value then the Star copies? I have some that look exactly the same, but then there are some that have different colors and different image quality on the cover.

I also place a lesser value on those, some of the "revised" color schemes are particularily harrowing. Blue Bolt 108 has always been one my favorite covers of his, and I bought one many moons ago that was just like green and yellow...wish I still had a scan of it, b/c it was awful. Unless it was a printing error, but even then I couldn't stand to look at it.

Gerber has its index number listed as 251-A, Which usually means it's an annual, but it has a description that says "Cover only". It's also a Gerber 10. Anyone have any info on this book?

On this one: A1 Comics #108 (Red Fox #15) - is that his cover or just interiors? I'm only asking because this is a "covers only" list. Maybe afterwards I'll work on and interiors list.

 

Bold Comics #2 - I didn't see this one in my DB, and haven't found anything on it yet. I'll add it to my list of issue to add to the DB. Another one I'm considering on adding is WIT & WISDOM #1. It's not a comic but is in a similar vein.

...are tricky. If I'm remembering correctly these covers were all created but never used. So they really aren't collectible but do exist, correct? I'll keep this for reference, but as more of an addendum to the main list but not part of it. Sound good?

 

As far as the AP reprints, I can understand with some of the covers (POPULAR TEEN-AGERS #6 with the god-awful pink cover comes to mind). But some, like the POPULAR TEEN-AGERS #5 is dead on and looks great! In my opinion it goes on an issue by issue case.
