I wonder if the PQ and the creasing on the top right kept some buyers away.

I’m also wondering if the “I promise to empty your college/401k/savings collection took the glory from the AF 15.

"PQ"- no.

The big crease on the top right edge- possibly.

I would expect to see something like that on a 5.0-5.5, not a 6+.

*Edit- The centering isnt the best either.

I can't believe you guys are making excuses on an $85K sale in AF #15 6.0 lol

Same thing happened when a 9.4 'only' went for $800K

Wow, tough crowd!

Not making excuses.  I’m just wondering if it could’ve went for more under different circumstances.

That AF15 in 6.0 was nice enough for the grade, so I doubt presentation had much to do with it.  Did it slip through the cracks in light of how much money chased the other hyped stuff on Heritage this weekend?  Hmmm.  Something about a vow, pledge, oath...I forget what that was all about.  If so, a lucky new owner of a solid AF15 6.0.  2c

Spidey is a cultural phenomenon. The prices reflect it. Noticed in a Target store last night they had a "Spider-man" display. Clothes, toys, action figures etc all on one display near the front. The Webslinger has gone a long way in 59 years. :martini:

I don’t disagree.  The 6.0 in question did sell for a boat load of money.  As someone who owns an AF 15, I’m happy about that.  I was simply asking a question that maybe it was slightly affected because of the auction it was in.  That’s all.

I wasn't picking on anyone in particular.

People are being programmed by social media to expect too much from everything and everyone.

We see a video of a shooting in some town and we think the town is burning down.

We see someone post something about their opinion on social media and we extrapolate them into being at some extreme end of a spectrum.

By extension, we see one auction result and assume something wasn't right (or a high result means there's a new baseline).

I think the book did just fine and not ever result will exactly the same.

I sold a 6.0 about 12 years ago for something like $8K on these boards and sold a 6.0 for $55K about 3 years ago.

It's really important to keep reminding ourselves that in perspective, to keep values in a range rather than as a stock ticker and that this was a great sale even if it was just a little below the last one.

That’s true.  Perspective is important.  And of course the jump of 6.0 sales in general, especially for the copies you’ve sold over the past 12 years, going from 8k to 55k and then the 6.0 sale we’re discussing, is definitely remarkable.
