CONSTANTINE Season One Available For Sale Digitally Again

After having been pulled from the market shortly before Matt Ryan's guest appearance on Arrow last year, the first season of NBC's short-lived DC/Vertigo adaptation Constantine is now available for purchase on Vudu and iTunes.

It's been months since Constantine appeared on Arrow, and while the episode provided the CW hit with a boost in its ratings that week, it didn't seem to motivate anybody to rush right out and demand more Constantine.

"Haunted," the Arrow episode in which Ryan guest-starred as Constantine, remains the top-rated episode of Arrow ever by the ComicBook.com readership on our TV database.

:whee:

Constantine's Entire First Season Is On CW Seed

The CW has just uploaded the show’s entire first (and only!) season to stream on its FREE CW Seed page (click here).

Constantine, however, did cameo in Arrow’s fourth season to the excitement of many fans. The supernatural detective stopped by Star City after Sara Lance was revived after taking a dip in the Lazarus Pit. Clearly, resurrection bids demons, and Constantine is somewhat of an expert on that subject. However, the CW has since announced no new plans to perhaps revive Constantine in a series or further extend his guest appearances in its current television line-up.

However, with the CW now streaming Constantine online, it’s not too much to hope that the network might find a place for the hell-bound detective in its shows in the near future.

I wonder if the CW is tracking hits on those episodes to see how much activity takes place. Could lead to some new show discussions.

Wow! If this comes true...

‘Constantine’ Season 2 Confirmed: DC Comics Working To Revive Series In Another Network?

"Constantine" Season 2 may still happen even after NBC has cancelled the series after Season 1. Rumors are rife that DC Comics is still working towards reviving the show and the renewal may take place in another network after the studio announced its DC Extended Universe.

Various reports claim that "Constantine" Season 2 may be in the works despite the show's cancellation after just one season on TV. According to Master Herald, there are rumors that DC Comics is working to revive the show in another network.

Talks of "Constantine" Season 2 happening began after DC Comics announced that it will be expanding the DC Extended Universe on TV. The CW remains as a popular choice for superhero shows seeing how "Supergirl" Season 2 recently moved from CBS to The CW.

The CW is also home to a lot of popular and successful superhero series such as "Arrow," "Legends of Tomorrow" and "The Flash." With the DC Universe expanding, it is possible that "Constantine" Season 2 may be renewed in this particular network.

So they are feeling out if the show would attract fans in order to make a decision.

In re-watching the Pilot Episode, I just realized something. I thought that actress from AMC's Preacher was familiar.

Lucy Griffiths was Liv Aberdine in Constantine, and now Emily in Preacher.

I'm up to Episode 5, and forgot how much I loved this series. You can tell by Episode 4 the cast had gotten into the grove of their characters, and the stories were getting more gritty and paranormal, and by the time Papa Midnite shows up it adds perfectly to the atmosphere of the show.

Season Two...please!!

Is this an unofficial way of the CW confirming a new Constantine series?

This is a CW TV action figure line.....and in spite of Constantine being on Arrow 1x, it'd be hard to justify a figure based merely upon that one appearance.

I thought (and hoped) the same exact thing. Why would they include him if there wasn't an assumption of a bigger plan?

It would be cool to see Spectre appear.

Big Honking Rumours For DC TV Ahead Of SDCC – Batwoman, Oracle, Constantine And John Wesley Shipp

Matt Ryan could get a similar deal as the network tests the streaming audience of Constantine as well as his appearances on the network this upcoming season. The Vampire Diaries is ending after this season and the network wants to keep Fridays as their horror night, probably pairing a Constantine-led series with workhorse Supernatural, which gets decent ratings whatever time slot it is moved to. iZombie is also seen as strong enough to lead Fridays with Supernatural if need be.

That makes so much sense! And what NBD screwed up, as it had Constantine and Grimm back-to-back. It could have been horror night.

Arrow Creator Addresses Rumors Of Constantine's Return

Speaking at one of the TCA’s press tour stops, creator Greg Berlanti said his team hasn’t, “had any conversations with them about Constantine,” with ‘them’ undoubtedly being executives with say over the character. So, maybe Warner Bros. is getting involved now?

Regardless of who's got say of what, this kind of news won't be making lots of fans happy.

When Berlanti was pressed to answer why Constantine may not return with a bigger role, the creator took time to explain that, “Constantine exists in a certain place in the DC world and universe.” As such, Berlanti believes higher-ups at CW are still, “...internally examining what they want to do with that character next.”

Surely, fans will be curious as to what the examination reveals, especially since CW is the network investigating. After all, when Constantine was canceled after its first season, many had hoped the network would pick up the series.

With DC Animation contracting Matt Ryan to voice Constantine in Justice League Dark, there is something more brewing here. What it is unfortunately is not clear.

Constantine is Coming to DVD and Blu-Ray From the Warner Archive

The Warner Archive -- Warner Bros.'s print-on-demand service for DVDs and Blu-rays that may not be big enough to support a wide release in retail stores -- will release Constantine on Blu-ray soon, according to advertisements running on the back of this week's DC Comics.

Since the series went off the air about a year and a half ago, fans have lobbied to have the full show released on DVD or Blu-ray to no avail.

So far, there's no sign of the show on the Warner Archive Store, but the ad -- which says "fantastic TV looks better on Blu-ray -- also features The 100, iZombie, and Lucifer. At least The 100 and iZombie's Blu-ray relases through the Warner Archive had been previously announced. It also says "Constantine now on Blu-ray & DVD."

"If that's true, then the fans made that happen," said former Constantine showrunner Daniel Cerone, currently an executive producer on Motive and The Blacklist. "I give them all the credit because they've made their voices known and never gave up. I'm continually overwhelmed by the passion out there for this character."

NYCC: Matt Ryan Open to Returning as Constantine on Arrow

arrowhauntedconstantine-157105.png

On Saturday, at New York Comic Con, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment unveiled he first official film footage (click here for details) from their next DC Universe original movie, Justice League Dark. Former Constantine star Matt Ryan, who is voicing John Constantine in the animated film, was part of the talented panel, and at one point, he was asked if he'd ever return to Arrow.

ComicBook.com's Kofi Outlaw was in attendance and reports:

Ryan said that this is the first time he's been free in awhile, but in this crazy ride of acting, he's learned to not rule anything out." He said that in terms of an Arrow return, he's open to it because: "I love the character."

PLEASE make it lead to more than Arrow appearances, or the occasional Justice League Dark voice work.

I really liked the show too. Was sad to see it cancelled. Hope they can find a way to bring it back.
