One of those covers I just can't resist when raw, mid-grade copies appear. No offense to those with Gaines File Copies, but I like my 70 year-old ECs to look 70 years old! This Ghastly cover is one of the top 5 precode horror covers inmho. Look at how the flesh just rots. And this cover is awesome despite the masthead and hosts taking up prime real estate. Popular Post Robot Man
Excellent consolation prize Hap! I must have gotton to him just before you. I sure miss those SDCC days... I believe Grant Geissman has a recreation of that Crypt cover in his office/studio. I was rather smitten with this one last time I was over. Robot Man
And then there was this in his rest room. I remember this Wally Wood classic from MAD so vividly from my childhood. I almost peed on my shoe laughing! Larryw7

My sweet spot is 5.0-8.0. Sold, clean, tight copies that present well but can still be handled and read with out worry. And, won’t break the bank. Now, I’m not opposed to real high grade either nor am I opposed to low grade GA that I don’t have. Books in many cases can be upgraded but in the case of many GA books you often have to take what you can find. By the way, seems like about every copy of #19 I see seems to have that fade in the red on the top left in the vertical word “Science”... In the spring 1953 issues all of the titles changed publishing format from their larger thicker paper golden age style to the atomic age format. It’s never been confirmed that this was a new printer, but is likely. During the first few months, the unstable reds plagued the books in the line until they could get it worked out. No quite the same well documented printing issue situation from later on with Impact 1. Finding copies with less of the effect as others is about as good as it gets. Copies completely unaffected don’t seem to exist. One of the many reasons that the latter issues are so much harder than the earlier to acquire in high grade. Popular Post Dave Henson
I wasn’t surfing eBay looking for this, but it jumped out and called my name so I had to buy. I’m pretty happy with the price. It’ll make a great addition to my Tales From The Crypt and Vault of Horror boxed sets. If only I could find a decent deal on the Haunt boxed set too. 🤪 KirbyJack, Raze, OtherEric and 3 others

Popular Post Robot Man
Kind of surprised no one has mentioned the 17 double cover ECs on the bay right now. Wow, 17 of them! How someone assembled that collection is beyond me. I was thinking of going after the 3D #2 but poof! There went that. I'm afraid I will be outside looking in on these... But I do have this consolation prize from the "Paul" collection. Have always loved this cover. When I got the chance, I jumped all over it. creaturefan95, Larryw7, OtherEric and 2 others

Raze
I saw them when they got listed. Its amazing! I follow all EC titles so when A new one is listed I can see when I open eBay. I bid on two of them and was outbid really quickly. it was fun while it lasted. Can’t wait to see what they goes for. IngelsFan

Plenty of eye appeal. Complete with nice colors and no pieces missing. I don't know why people here feel they have to make an excuse for a low grade book. It's a winner to you or you wouldn't have bought it... Here is my copy. Bought it from Ricksneatstuff about a year ago. It is trimmed and some spine work from a bound volume but was fully disclosed. Not trimmed much and was priced at around fair-good. I snapped it up. What was weird was there no mention of what was inside. More than made up for the trim and it will do just fine until I can upgrade it. Ricksneatstuff, conan09279, Raze and 6 others 7
