And who might those EC “heavy hitters” be? The artists and writers are all gone. As well as most of the huge early old guard collectors. The letters EC will always get my attention but those who were actually there won’t be there.

EC Fan-Addicts Club / EC Panel

Hosts Thommy Burns (EC Covers Artist's Edition, Man and Superman and Other Stories by Harvey Kurtzman) and Josh Burns (co-founding admin of the EC Fan-Addict Club), and noted EC historians Grant Geissman (The History of EC Comics, Tales of Terror! The EC Companion), Bill Leach (Horror From The Crypt Of Fear), and S. C. Ringgenberg (Al Williamson: Hidden Lands) celebrate 10 years of the EC Fan-Addict Club on Facebook in a lively session moderated by J. Michael Catron (senior editor, The Fantagraphics EC Artists' Library).

Thanks Steve. Don’t really know the other folks but if Grant is there it is bound to be worth attending. Saw him at Torpedo today. Missed you though.

Too much going on this year to make the 2 hour plus drive to Glendale hopefully next year. Will be at San Diego this year.

I agree. I might be a little biased. It was my first EC sci fi book.

Around 1969, I traded a set of Beatles bobble head figures to Terry Stroud at the Hollywood Women’s club for a very nice copy of this. A trade that was a bit in his favor at the time. He had 3 copies and I insisted on the nicest of the 3.

As luck would have it. I came out WAY ahead in the long run…

I might have been at that same show in 1969 at the Hollywood Women’s Club. I remember my dad drove me there and waited in the car while I went foraging. It was the first time I met Terry Stroud in person and I purchased my first EC from him-Mad #8 for $4. I still have it too!

Wow, that’s cool. Yeah, about the earliest “comic con” or “gathering” of collectors in the LA area. I got loads of $1. PCH out of those boxes under the tables at those shows. I wish I had bought more but my money was a bit spread out to include a car, girls and “other things”…

Coupla #21's came drifting in today.  These seem to be HTF issues for whatever reason.  Closing in on full runs for each title.

Congrats! Those are indeed ones you don’t see very often. The VOH was the last one I needed. That Crypt issue has always been tough.

I'd love to contribute some of my favorite books to this thread.

When the Gaines File Copies first went on sale in 1990, I could really only afford one book. But there was no question as to which issue it would be:

This cover so perfectly captures the romance of discovering magic worlds ruled by beautiful and exotic alien princesses.

I find it very interesting that, thematically, the cover of Weird Science 14 is so similar to the previous issue (13).

It's as if, upon finishing the cover to 13, Wood started to imagine how he might have done the same "first contact" scenario differently. Like an afterthought. And so, without even waiting, he produced what he may have decided was a dreamier, more exotic, and feminine, version of the WS 13 scenario.

I've come to think of WS 13 and 14 as "Brother and Sister". I've had the Gaines WS 14 since 1990, but I didn't acquire a Gaines WS 13 until just last year. At last, Brother and Sister are together again.

I like how both covers have the commander waving an "imperious" index finger of confident command.

Cool book! I have had this one for many years. It is Vault 37 with a different cover. I like the ED logo as opposed to the EC logo. The Mexican ECs don’t seem very easy to find.

Wow! Gorgeous copy!!! I think these are hard to find in general, and especially hard to find in high grade.

Actually, many years ago I came across a small pile of this one. They all looked unread. There was very little interest in them. I gave most of them away to friends. This is the only one I kept.

Big EC panel tomorrow at SDCC...I saw a preview of one of the presenter's slldes...wow stuff I have never seen before.  it happens at 8 pm and any and every serious EC collector needs to attend, over 100 sides from 3 presenters along. It is great to see stuff you have never seen before or knew that it existed....incredible

I’ve seen Grant’s collection several times. Believe me, nobody around has had the inside scoop to the world of EC than he has had…
