Had a surprise waiting for me on Wed. :ohnoez:

 

 

Walked into my LCS and the owner smiled and said "Hey! They actually came in" I was confused and said, awesome news....what came in? lol

 

He smiled and said come back here and help me with these 2 boxes. I headed around the counter and we both grabbed a box each. One had my weekly pull and the other was filled with.......Enormous #4s! Supposedly I had him order a large batch of each cover a few months back and they all came in. I truly do not remember that but was stoked as I wasn't able to snag any online.

 

Walked around doing this all day Wed :headbang:

 

 

Was lucky enough to read issue #4 a few weeks back but read it again in hand. LOVE this book.

Also, just watched the Machinima episode. Pretty cool. totally plausible, and it would be nice to have a break from zombies and political thrillers if this were to become a regular series.

Also, if it were to become a regular series, hopefully they could do a crossover with Downton Abbey.

 

 

I'm pretty sure Larry stated earlier in this or another thread that this was going to be his 1st Phantom 2nd print ever. (shrug)

 

 

The creators asked me if I would be interested in supporting their second print.

 

I said yep.

 

They designed some killer covers for my group.

One of them will be rare as hell...

under 150 copies.

 

Some second prints beat the out of their 1st print counterparts on the secondary market.

Let's see how thees fare...

 

I hope they fare well, but I was scratching my head on the cover design for the phantom 2nd print, since basically they are a footprint put on top of the Hastings cover for #1.

 

Personally, I like the 1st print Phantoms, but thats just me.

 

B&W are going to be pricey $$$$ on secondary market with only 150. Good luck to anyone hunting these...

 

Ah, see - the Phantom Variant 2nd Print gave us the chance to FULLY reproduce the poster from the Machinima short. Very grateful to have been able to do that. The original Hastings exclusive presented only select elements of the art. So, what you see on the Phantom Variant is the full poster w/ credits and design. LOVE IT.

There is phantom kaju. The nycc, phantom kaju colored and b&w are all 2nd print. Get caught wih wytches nycc, whivh isnt rare compared to enormous nycc, and i left this out. If anyone wants to sell one, give me a tell

I picked up issue 4 at my store and enjoyed it more than the first two issues. The story was a little more flushed out and we also got to see some character growth. It made for a better read.

 

As many have said, the art is incredible.

 

One odd thing: the father/daughter relationship. I like that they showed some story development and gave us a picture of what society has turned to. Having said that, the way they sexualized the daughter was really odd. The splash with her hugging her father and her butt sticking out just struck me as odd.

 

That is just a side tangent… Otherwise, I think the book is showing some promise. I might have to hunt down a copy of 3 since I never found it.

I don't understand why #1 variants that are released months later after several issues have come out heat up so much. Didn't everyone get so butt hurt over NWM?

 

I think a couple things are at play:

 

1) Speculators are loving the book. They drive the variant prices up and thus are going wild for this book and the NYCC Wytches too.

 

2) A lot of people missed out on the first few issues of the book because of how low print it was. It made the unobtainable even more desirable.

 

3) Supply and demand: the low print numbers make people go cuckoo.

I said the same thing when New Mutants 98 hit $400 for a 9.8 a few months ago. Now they're selling for $700-$800. This hobby never ceases to amaze me that's for sure.
