Suicide Squad movie coming
2 2

Suicide Squad just has the additional misfortune of being the last one of its type to be released this year, and being (over) populated by characters that are largely unknown to the general movie going public.

Like Guardians of the Galaxy?

Not quite......

I think his entire appearance is unfortunate, because Leto has the right look to pull off an ideal Joker, but damn, they went overboard.

Grills? Really?

Could have been worse.

The Joker with a mouth tattoo on the back of his hand, and he only speaks when the hand is in front of his face and moves slightly to imitate speaking.

(:

That's not far from it! lol

Thank goodness it isn't even close to that. But that would be the cue Hollywood has totally lost it.

lol

GotG had half as many characters though. And was carried by the actual leader of the team. Is Rick Flagg going to carry Suicide Squad? No. This is a Harley Quinn and Joker movie with Will "don't call him Deadshot because he won't be wearing the mask for 95% of the movie" Smith.

Nailed it.

I think the second trailer looks pretty good.

I am not expecting an artistic tour de force....this isn't The Hurt Locker or No Country For Old Men.

It's 90+ minutes of escapist entertainment and I think it looks as well done as this format allows.

Been thinking about this.... I think maybe the Joker is the big bad of the movie... He is never shown with the team, and only with Harley in flashbacks. It also looks like he may be in the skyscraper in some scenes that the Squad is later shown shooting up.

If this has been brought up before, I apologize. Just some random thoughts I had while watching the trailer again.

I think the Joker will be flashbacks only to Harley's earlier life. But I could be wrong.

On the real 'big bad' of the movie...

Who was assumed to be the big bad.

Wait a minute.

The Tattooed Man? Common is supposed to be playing this role.

That could be him.

I'm leaning more towards this theory.

The third Tattooed Man first appeared in Green Lantern Vol. 4 #9. Mark Richards was a former U.S. Marine who went missing after a helicopter crash. He was presumed dead until he showed up in Gotham City as a hit man. He claimed that the tattoos covering his body were the sins of men he had killed, and that by the art of "sin-grafting", which he had learned from the nation of Modora, in which he takes the sins of others and puts them on himself, he claimed to be redeeming the men and women he killed. All his victims had tattoos of their sins.

He was eventually stopped by Green Lantern and Batman. In DC's Brightest Day event, Mark appears as a member of Deathstroke's new team of Titans. He is convinced to join by Deathstroke who offers to help him track down Slipknot, the person responsible for murdering his son.

A version of the character is associated with Slipknot.

Common Wreaks Havoc As Tattooed Man In ‘Suicide Squad’ Trailer

The above images are a little hard to make out, but it appears that the character causing all that crazy mayhem in the subway would be none other than Common’s Tattooed Man. You can make out some of his tattoos if you look closely enough, though it isn’t easy. While his ultimate role in the film’s plot remains to be seen, he’ll definitely get to have his villainous fun.

:whee:

Wow. So you've seen the whole movie already? Is there a link for the torrent somewhere? :shy:

nope, common sense

And the bolded part of your statement, if one of your criteria for whether or not a movie will suck, is truly asinine.

Not a criteria for the movie sucking, just an observation. Asinine is comparing this movie to GotG. You aren't fleshing out 9 different characters in a two hour movie. Nobody is going to be leaving the theater saying to themselves "I could really relate to that Slipknot fella"...it will be closer to "that mercenary with all the ropes...what was his name again?"

Darkstar Comics out of Yellow Springs, Ohio, by chance? lol..

strike three

Based on all the trailers released so far you barely see the Deadshot mask. In the current movie age it is common for the bigger stars to lose their masks really often. Considering that the actors playing Spider-man thus far, in any of the movies, are mask-free for much of the film even though the character always has the mask on in the comics, it isn't a stretch to guess that Smith will be maskless for much of the movie.

Will Smith will get top billing on this one, won't he? I can't imagine he'd sign onto the role for anything less. He's got to be central to the story.

If he did, he would merit it when considering the ensemble cast. It's fairly standard practice to give that to the biggest star if their roles are essentially equal.

Smith, like a handful of other actors, is fairly infamous for being able to exert control on a project (Tom Cruise is similar) but I don't think anything has come out that this is the case here. I think if you have an ensemble superhero film and Will Smith wants a part, you are very happy.

He doesn't need help or the cash, I think this is a good move on his part.

Okay, okay, okay, Groot is deeply profound character and Suicide Squad is going to "suck" because Deadshot doesn't wear his mask for the majority of the movie! You win! (LMAO)

Your original post comparing this movie to GotG was a response to Jaydogrules, who stated this movie had too many characters. GotG was considered a good movie by many because while it had a bunch of characters most people knew nothing about the film did a very good job of establishing those characters and individualizing them over the course of the movie so that they all stood out. This movie has too many characters to accomplish that.

There is a track record of big name actors not covering up their faces in these movies because the studios want them to be seen most of the time so they can a) be recognized and b) use their faces to show emotion.

If Will Smith goes without his mask for most of the movie and his character isn't established well due to time constraints then he ends up not being Deadshot. It'll just be another Will Smith as a cop/soldier/mercenary role. That is a waste of a character.

the movie is going to be a hit how big of a hit that depends on the film itself. I'm exticed for it and can't wait to see it and i know a lot of co-workers that didn't care much from the DC upcoming films are now really looking for to it.

+ 1

I was talking with some co-workers today about this movie because people see I have superhero posters around my desk. They wanted to know more about who Margot Robbie was playing, as they felt she was some nutty girl under another person's control acting the way she did.

They did find the Joker-Harley Quinn relationship interesting. But not about breaking her down to reform her to his liking.

Someone today did point out an article that noted where the movie may be referencing her origin (New 52's Suicide Squad #7, 2012).
