How Internet Scoops Changed Avengers: Age of Ultron’s Ending Quote Speaking with The Wrap, Feige said that the original plan was for the jet to be shown clearly going into space, but after a false scoop story saying a Planet Hulk film was in development it was changed to avoid fans expecting the then-unplanned gladiator adventure: “You had the big scoop about us doing Planet Hulk. It turned out to be accurate [but] at the time, it was not accurate because we didn’t have any plans to do it and Joss [Whedon] was doing Age of Ultron at that time. The way it ends as you recall with Hulk in the Quinjet going off, right? We said, ‘Joss, we can’t do that because he’s not going into space and people are going to think we’re doing Planet Hulk because Umberto has some big hot scoop that we’re doing Planet Hulk, we can’t do it.’ He goes, ‘Well, what are you going to do?’ We said, ‘We don’t know.’ So, if you go back and look at that shot of the movie, he’s in the sky. It’s blue sky.” The rumor Feige mentions came in March 2013, around the time that Age of Ultron was beginning to come together. Originally, there was going to be a reference of Hulk being detected near Saturn, but that was changed to avoid too much suggestion: “So in the movie, it’s, ‘We lost the signal out by the Caspian Sea.’ Or something like that, it was all earthbound.” What this was initially setting up is unclear, but given how Marvel Studios can’t actually make solo movies for Bruce Banner due to a rights hangover with Universal (and are instead making use of him in Avengers team-ups and other hero’s standalones) it was likely early prep for Avengers: Infinity War. People kind of got bored with aliens coming to earth to destroy us. Super heroes are about hope and not dark and destructive like most sci-fi movies have been lately. Here's an article I read Friday about a genre that seems to be on it's "last leg." http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/friday-13th-is-slasher-movie-dying-1048355 I'm a bit pickier about what I watch now for superhero movies, but if I consider Logan and Wonder Woman a couple of the best 2017 has offered so far, I'm not too fatigued. I liked Guardians 2 as well. So, I might not be too excited about Justice League (a better recent trailer, but I pretty much set my mind on my expectations,) but Thor looks like a helluva good time. Yeah, sy-fy has really not been as relevant as it used to be. They had slimey things and flying saucers, yet were about something else entirely. I was thinking about what happened to that Independence Day sequel last year, when I drove by the Milford Drive-In yesterday. I remember twenty years ago, squeezing my Ford Escort in that crowded parking lot with my date (Collette?) and how there was a line going up the street for the next day's showing and so forth for weeks after. For my rural area, that was probably the peak of sy-fy in the 90's before Avatar. I just feel people aren't connecting with the genre anymore because they aren't making parables that reflect our culture. Just a lot pointless Michael Bay explosions, slo-mo leaps and easily loopable dialogue for the foreign markets. I do admit I'm fairly excited when a well-received funnybook movie arrives on Blu Ray/DVD. This Tuesday has one I believe. Silver Surfer Posted October 17, 2017 Share Posted October 17, 2017 All its takes is a fresh new idea or decent film like Wonder Woman to come along and then the fans will eat it up. Marvel has been brilliant in the way they have tied all these movies together as they lead into the Infinity War. However, the draw back is that we have been speculating and waiting for this to come for years now. I'm sure that once Inifinity War finally is released and done there will be fresh stories and characters to build new movies around.
