...and people forget Buffy TVS started as a movie.

But the Buffy character didn't start off in comics like the other characters.

I didn't realize how disappointed in the movie Joss Whedon was, leading to his creation of the TV show to make up for her first cinema appearance.

Right, but Buffy's still a 'super' hero with enhanced abilities. And Pike's statement was about 'first ever' movie. Like our knuckle-dragging neanderthal culture hadn't produced any before Gal Gadot's role as WW.

I think two words were missed. And if Pine was wise, he would have added 'successful' in the hopes this all turns out super. Especially with what happened with Supergirl (1984) and Elektra (2005).

:foryou:

:foryou: I've calmed down.

Pine's statement just struck me as very condescending to women.

"...how wonderful the world can be with beautiful, strong intelligent women...blah, blah, blah. A verbal cheek-pinch and head-pat.

Or just ignorant. He may not be a comic geek.

But yeah, the word 'successful' would have made all the difference.

Chris Pine And Gal Gadot Featured In WONDER WOMAN Set Videos

Thanks to Instagram user @blazinsaddles, we have a new look at some very intriguing scenes being shot on the set of Wonder Woman. As you can see - though you may need to squint! - Chris Pine's Steve Trevor is escorting her through the city in what appears to be a fairly secretive manner, and Gal Gadot definitely seems to be wearing the cloak she had on in that first official image.

Batman V. Superman Director Says Gal Gadot Got Wonder Woman Role Because She's Fierce And Kind

As part of his current press tour, though, filmmaker Zack Snyder told Film Ink that Gadot got the role in part because she shares characteristics with Wonder Woman herself.

"We tested a bunch of actresses, as you can imagine," said Snyder, later elaborating that they screen-tested at least six people for the part.

"But the thing with Gal is that she’s strong, she’s beautiful, and she’s a kind person, which is interesting, but fierce at the same time. It’s that combination of being fierce but kind at the same time that we were looking for. She can get serious, but she’s amazingly fun to be around. And by the way, she really held her own with Ben in the screen test. Ben was like, ‘Whoa, that girl is something else!’ That was a good sign, because Ben is very tough in the scene, and he’s big and commanding. Anytime that you’re doing a test like that and you’re looking at the other person, you’re thinking, ‘Okay, that’s good stuff.’ That was part of the process, and over time as we got to know Gal, we found out how amazing she is."

Robin Wright's Daughter Hints At Her Mother's Role In WONDER WOMAN

While chatting to Dylan Penn, daughter of Robin Wright and Sean Penn, THR asked if she would be attending the Golden Globes with her mother.

Penn didn't say too much, but she might've revealed an important detail about her mother's role in the upcoming DC film, Wonder Woman. “No, she’s not going,” said Penn. “She’s training to be a super hero for a movie.” Could this mean that Robin Wright is indeed Hippolyta as rumors suggest, or is Dylan just using "superhero" as a generic term for any comic book movie character?

Gal Gadot's look is terrific. I'm thrilled she isn't manly. The idea that a woman must emulate a man in order to project power & authority is a bad one.

I like this so much I'm reposting my own post.

YES!

I was all in on Gadot and very excited for a big screen Wonder Woman. My favorite part of the potential of BVS.

I've seen Gadot in person when I lived in Sardegna. She's not a big person but she is tall (for a girl, she's eye-to-eye with me, I'm short). In area and scene full of attractive people/women she was SHINING.

Wonder Woman's Chris Pine Talks Steve Trevor, World War I Setting

“Steve Trevor is a rogue-ish, cynical realist who’s seen the awful brutish nature of modern civilization,” Pine tells Toronto Sun of his character. “He’s a worldly guy, a charming guy and it’s going to be a great, fun film. There are some incredibly deep, interesting and morally relevant themes."

"It’s a period we don’t see often; it’s usually World War II," Pine says. "Our costume design is incredible. We have scenes with, like, 500 extras all in period dress. I’d never been on a film with extras casting as beautifully done as it is here. It highlights a really important point. When background casting is done well, it can make or break a scene. I’ve got people in deep background that have entire lives. It’s awesome, it’s actual make-believe land.”
