Plastic shards in the slabs - Will this gentleman be responsible for simply not letting slabs go out with any shards in them, or will he be responsible for the shards not getting in the slabs in the first place?  Big difference. Quite frankly, this has been going on for a very, very long time and there is absolutely no way that CGC does not know where they are coming from.

Scratches/scuffs on (or in) the slabs - exact same question and exact same same statement regarding CGC knowing where they are coming from.

Stopping these problems in the first place is towards the top of my list.  I realize that QC will have to back track to get to the problems.

If QC problems were significantly reduced, say in the next two years, I have about 10 slabs I will resubmit for pressing and reholder.  CGC needs to press comics they screwed up...no questions asked. :pullhair:

This won't happen overnight but, I found out Monday, and I have the first meeting scheduled for Friday.  More quality control specialists will need to be hired.  For the first time, I have someone I can communicate with about this.  Good news for sure.

Yes but, I am not going to.  Sorry.  I appreciate all of the kind words, though.

In the absence of a like button, I just want to express my gratitude in announcing these changes and your communication with upper management about the variety of issues that have taken place with increased regularity the past 2+ years.  Change takes time, but hopefully this is a step forward in at least resolving some of the more egregious errors that have been getting through QC.  Thanks @CGC Mike.

I really want to start submitting again.

If they can establish a track record of good QC, I would likely submit again too.

Either way, I hope they can.

In CGC's "official" description of the 7-Step Grading Process, Quality Control (Step 6/7) follows Encapsulation (Step 5/7) and precedes Packaging/Shipping (Step 7/7).  Frankly, it's difficult to believe that a QC review of an encapsulated book takes longer than the encapsulation itself:screwy:  That's like saying that it takes longer to box a pizza than to cook a pizza.  (tsk)

The QC crew is shorthanded, eh?  This is only possible if a single "QC specialist" is currently responsible for multiple, simultaneous encapsulations (or if CGC's "QC specialists" are also responsible for other tasks in the process, as I've previously speculated).  CGC has a problem alright, but it's definitely not limited to QC.  Anyone ever hear the ancient proverb, "A fish rots from the head down."

So quality control improves, public confidence increases, droves of people who had been holding back start submitting again...

Turn around times increase from 247 days to 983 days...

Keep in mind this was a CCG announcement.  Also, I have already mentioned that the manager will have to go to the root of the problem to correct the errors we have been seeing happen with comics.  Here are the other companies.

Well, this is a step in the right direction. However it goes, Mike, I appreciate your taking ownership of the issue, even though it shouldn't fall on your shoulders at all. Thanks for being persistent. I let my membership expire a month or so ago, more due to QC issues than TAT's. I have a small stack I'd like to have graded. If we see improvements in the coming months, I'd like to be able to rejoin and send them in maybe next year. Here's hoping for the best. CGC's decisions under the new regime have been baffling at best. This is the first announcement in some time that actually gave me some hope.
