RUMOR: DOCTOR STRANGE Composer Michael Giacchino Will Score SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING

According to a user on Reddit, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige took part in a Q&A on Thursday following a Doctor Strange screening and confirmed that Michael Giacchino will provide the score for Spider-Man: Homecoming. After creating the music for the new Marvel Studios fanfare, the composer worked on the Sorcerer Supreme's big screen debut, so him reteaming with the studio makes sense.

"Kevin Feige accidentally let slip that Michael Giacchino will be composing the music for Spider-Man: Homecoming," Reddit user JonLuca reveals. "He then said 'We announced that right? I really hope we announced that.'" They haven't, and this is a pretty major reveal if true as it gives us an idea of what the upcoming reboot will sound like.

Marvel's Kevin Feige Confirms Michael Keaton As Vulture In Spider-Man: Homecoming

keaton-vulture-210141.jpg

Long rumored but never officially confirmed, yes, Michael Keaton is playing the Vulture in Spider-Man: Homecoming. The actor has been reportedly attached to the film as a villain for several months, and the Vulture's presence has also been confirmed for several months, having been shown in the brief sizzle reel at San Diego Comic-Con. Just earlier today, a new look at the Vulture's appearance in the film was spotted. Now, in an interview with the TorontoSun, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed the casting, the role, and did it all very nonchalantly.

When Feige was asked about the villains in future films, he addressed 2017's Thor: Ragnarok, 2018's Avengers: Infinity War, and the joint production with Sony Pictures of Spider-Man: Homecoming, also set for 2017.

"We’ve had a wish list, and most of them in the near-term are coming together. Cate Blanchett is playing Hela in Thor: Ragnarok. Michael Keaton’s Vulture in Spider-Man [Homecoming] is something. And of course, finally, we’re showcasing Josh Brolin’s Thanos (in Avengers: Infinity War). We’re looking forward to that very much," Feige said.

Kevin Feige Reveals How Sony Partnership Has Changed Spider-Man

spiderman-homecoming-201932.jpg

In a recent interview with Variety, the president of Marvel Studios talked about the company’s work with Sony Pictures and described how the partnership will change Spider-Man.

“It [spider-Man: Homecoming] takes place inside the cinematic universe that we have built across 14 films,” Feige explained. “In the previous films, Spider-Man was the only superhero who existed in that world.”

“In the comic books, Spider-Man always existed in a world where the Avengers existed, and Iron Man existed, and the Hulk would run through the streets, and Captain America had been thawed out of the ice. In the film, he’s a young kid who has to be home at curfew so his Aunt May doesn’t get worried, and go to school, and do his homework. That’s in contrast to Tony Stark’s life or Stephen Strange’s.”

Sony’s Tom Rothman commented on the partnership with The Hollywood Reporter earlier this year and said the company was willing to work with Marvel in the future.

He told the site, “It’s been fantastic, our relationship with Marvel....Sony has the ultimate authority,” he clarified, “but we have deferred the creative lead to Marvel, because they know what they’re doing.”

SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Brazil Footage Summary

A very brief clip from Spider-Man: Homecoming just debuted at the CCXP convention in Brazil. The clip, part of a larger Sony Pictures panel, was introduced by a message from actor Tom Holland, who stars in the film as Peter Parker and Spider-Man after debuting the role in Captain America: Civil War.

Marvel's Ryan Penagos was at the panel, and offered up a brief description of the very brief footage on his personal twitter account.

"The Spider-Man: Homecoming footage was short but AWESOME," Penagos wrote. "Starts from Spidey's POV [Point of View], talking with Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau). There's a case from Tony Stark with an "upgrade" for Spidey. Then we see Spidey leap off a building, open his arms, web wings!"

Yes, Spidey's new costume upgrade from Tony Stark will include the ability to fly, or at least glide. Penagos said, "there were a few more flashes of shots," but he couldn't remember them well enough for a full description. He noted that the "web wings" were "the classic underarm webbing," more akin to what Steve Ditko used to draw than any huge full-featured wings.
