Bosco685
Quote A new report indicates that The New Mutants was pushed back for a third time, being removed from its August release date for another undetermined date. The film was originally supposed to hit theaters a year ago. When the film was delayed the first time, reports indicated that the -script would receive some changes. These reshoots will add a brand new character to the plot. However, the reshoots have yet to take place, and director Josh Boone has since moved on to start the writers room for the upcoming series based on Stephen King’s The Stand. There’s no word yet on when the reshoots will take place, but rumors have suggested the movie might not be released in theaters at all. Some reports say The New Mutants may be dumped on a streaming service like Hulu or Disney+ after it launches.
AnthonyTheAbyss
. Just put it on Disney+ and be done with it...or cancel. At this point it is reaching "Justice League level" of red flags.

sagekilz
Without any inkling of historical canon in any of the X-Men movies or any other Marvel affiliated movie for that matter, how in the world do they expect this to flourish?

Although you are confused on this statement (even oddball Origins: Wolverine was associated with Wolverine Vol. 2 #10 and Marvel Comics #72-84), it will be interesting how Disney markets this to drive excitement. Bosco685
Quote The New Mutants producer Simon Kinberg has offered an update on the spin-off's lengthy delays. Starring Game of Thrones' very own Maisie Williams and Stranger Things actor Charlie Heaton, the new X-Men superhero movie is set to be a "full-fledged" horror film– but it's now on its fourth planned release date thanks to some backroom issues. Discussing the current situation, Kinberg exclusively told Digital Spy: "What's happening is we're gonna do reshoots this year on that film and it has a new release date from Disney. That's really it. "Part of it was figuring out what the reshoots were gonna be, the pick-ups, and the other part of it was getting that cast back together. "For all of these movies, Marvel's really brilliant at scheduling pick-ups into their budget and schedule so it's all prepared, and we have never been that smart. For us, we're always scrambling to get these actors back together so they're all in the same place at the same time."

Gatsby77
Ugh. Reminder that principal photography for this film ended in September 2017 and it was originally scheduled for release in April 2018. They may as well just release it directly to Hulu rather than go back to (purportedly) re-shoot "half the flim" nearly two years later.

Gatsby77
6 minutes ago, Bosco685 said: What solid source was this coming from? That was first reported in Collider, Mar. 27 of last year, although a piece in IndieWire walked it back the next day, claiming that it was premature because Boone hadn't yet finished writing all the new scenes. Regardless, the film was finished and screened for test audiences well over a year ago. Given that Disney could literally just put it on Hulu+, I wonder what the rationale is for spending $10s of millions on reshoots and then furthers $10s of millions on theatrical distribution. Given that together that's probably $50 million of investment, they must believe the marginal return will be an additional $120+ million or more in box office returns for what's being marketed as a horror movie. The only way that makes sense is for brand protection, which would be largely moot if they were planning to recast or reboot the New Mutants via a second movie or streaming series anyway.
