As well as the #56 in the 'wrong' slab from the estate, I also have this, which my wife sourced for me from a curator friend in the US for my birthday one year.

Nice, one of the few GA greats that escaped my autograph hunting.

At one time I had an US with a stamp that said something like this “If you are in possession of this book, beware it was filched from my personal library. Carl Barks”.

I always wanted a book with that stamp. I remember seeing one decades ago.

Recently acquired from MCS, perhaps from one of you fine folk.  Cover detached.  As a new collector of GA, I'm continually amazed at how vibrant the colors can remain after 80 years.

Great book! I know what you mean. Its a special moment when you find that book, maybe low grade, that still has cover gloss, great cover inks, and maybe, white pages!:luhv:

Awesome very early Barks book! I've only got a couple in the thirties; they are great books!

I agree. My favorite era for WDCS. Big, fat issues with some of the best covers in the run. Most of mine are good presenting lower grade copies with nice pages.

Two early issues came up on these boards for sale a number of years back. I was thinking the price was a bit steep but @Yellow Kid Rich Olson convinced me they were a good buy. I sure miss Rich's advice. Here they are.

Those are nice looking copies. Pardon my ignorance but did something happen to Rich? I never met him personally but we had talked a little through the boards.

Oh I'm sorry you didn't know but Rich passed away last year. Here is the tribute thread if you would like to read it.

RIP Rich Olson

Two of the best in the ‘30’s run. And consecutive holiday issues. Nice copies!

Yeah, Rich loved his Ducks especially in high grade. He told me Leonard Brown willed his high grade WDCS run to him upon his passing. Now that Rich is also gone, I hope that run stays together.
