Almost as offensive as a high-balling seller! :198936152_angryemoji:

Unless you are getting buyers messaging you about books they have for sale then i just don't think they equate.  The intent is the same I do agree but sending an offer is much more of an in your face kind of negotiation compared to posting up high priced books that the buyer has to scan past when looking for a book.

According to the eBay shipping calculator, the label cost for packages shipped USPS Ground Advantage coast to coast is:

1 lb  $6.33 (29% discount)

10 lb  $6.33 (80% discount)

20lb 1oz  $6.33 (89% discount)

WHAT???  Is this really true?  Am I the only one to not know this?  Isn't 20 pounds about 140 bagged and boarded comics?

EDIT:  Never mind, I was using the size of a Gemini mailer, not the correct box size.  So I guess you can send heavy slate tiles in a Gemini mailer pretty cheap through eBay in case you were wondering...  :tonofbricks:

I've noticed on ebay wins in the last few weeks that NY sales tax is no longer being added. This is a huge savings assuming it sticks.  :wishluck:

Are you guys seeing the same thing? And at the risk of jinxing it, does anyone know the reason for the change?

I would like to thank the ebay sellers who have the books bagged and boarded then proceed to flip the books and give you a photo. It really helps you know what you are getting. O.o

I hesitate to post as a jinx and other frivolity, but New York has never charged me sales tax, and idk why? So I'm not sure if it is the question that isn't concise, or I just don't know? Dave and Adams and High Grade Comics, have literally never charged me sales tax or pretty sure..... so idk :):foryou::cheers:

Spoiler

Does ebay add your state's sales tax to your purchases?

doh! Of course! I knew I was missing something :ohnoez:

I meant when online people from New York have never charged me sales tax, I don't know if bought from there THROUGH EBAY :shy:

But I doubt the 2 are unrelated, as idk New York laws concerning such, but was trying just to give the info I had haha, it might not help much.

Other than to say, maybe ebay gets the same benefits from New York as if you had purchased from an online retailer based there online? That is my only guess, but idk specifics

Used too, ebay would only charge sales tax if you bought from the same state?

If you live in Texas and bought from Texas, you paid sales tax. If I'm in Texas and New York charges sales tax, now I pay it there too, but if New York isn't required to charge sales tax AND they're a different state than mine? then maybe no sales tax?

That would be my only guess based on my limited information.

@Neo "The One" by and by...

How much is New York Sales tax specifically? I know you probably have others to where it all adds up.... but just "sales tax?"

Texas is still sizeable 8.25%

so don't feel I'm being insincere! :shy:

Rule of thumb is 10% we get hit with State and local oftentimes. (Diff local counties = dif tax rate)

Sales tax is tacked on depending on the state you buy the item from (ie: a purchase from a seller in California will have California sales tax added to the final charges, etc)

That was my thinking and since New York never charged me sales tax personally, I was just double checking if it is "the same" through ebay @Point Five
