Impossible Collection? Seriously...

364 posts in this topic

I just dont like the writing hyperbole..

"Hariri's collection... is the first to comprise over 1,000 original run comic books..."

So this is the first collection with over 1000 original comic books in it?

I think there are some collectors (and collectors wives/husbands) who would disagree.

Just to be contrary, bravo for the owner for putting his collection on display! I'd like someone with one of the 10 best collections to have a gallery exhibit one day. I'm happy for the people who own every golden age book ever printed in VF or better, but what good are they locked away in a bank vault?

Here's an accolade I'll give him.

"Greatest single collector comic book collection ever on public display"

I think that's probably both accurate, and a pretty cool thing to say.

And I agree, him sharing the collection is super cool.

Let's call it the Improbable Collection then :)

Amazing collection.

I'm glad he's allowing others to enjoy it

by having it displayed.

I would love to see this in person.

I hope it helps raise more awareness to the

collectibles world that comics are a force.

I've just skimmed this thread - is there anything of value in it?

So far, all I've learned is:

1) it's impossible to have a adult discussion on the site.

2) It's Too much of a sausage fest.

Other than that:

3) I'm out.

What would a real "Impossible Collection" be like"

Complete Centaur runs

Catman #1-32

Pep #1-60

Complete runs of Champ, Prize, Hit, Four Favorites, Super-Mystery and Lightning

Detective #1-26

Even with a lot of money these runs and many others would be a great challenge to complete and would likely take a lot of time. I'm more impressed with the deep knowledge and perseverance needed to assemble runs like this than I am with super-expensive ultra-high-grade books, but such differences are what makes the world go round.....

Any of those runs without having a single restored copy... that I would pay money to see. :golfclap:

Here's a line I would like to read in one of the articles...

"Never has a collection so quickly been assembled with so little effort on the collectors part"

I see we're back to 'big deal, he's rich'.

The dude is 37; him not being around in the 1970s to pay $1500 for his Action 1s doesn't make his collection less awesome, or less of an achievement. Effort is required to amass wealth, even more effort is required to keep wealth, therefore effort facilitated the purchase of this collection.
