OK, here is one I got last week. Lifetime member of the "overpaid" club, but I am happy with it. Really happy actually, it's a book I didn't really think I would actually get. (like Planet 15).

So, I have a question for all the Planet geeks,

Why is Planet 15 (and maybe 14) so scarce? I read somewhere (on the internet right?) that someone estemates there are only 50-250 total... I don't know how someone might know that...

I have read a couple of theories but I don't remember where... That Fiction House had a story that predicted fairly accuratly how RADAR worked. And as a new tech the government asked FH to not distribute that book and thus FH ended up destroying that months "entire" group of books... I am wondering if there is any credibility to this account or if there is another explaination for the relative rarety of Planet 15?

hm

This is a great and romantic theory...if only it were true I fear it's just some urban myth. I've just been thru' the whole book and there is nothing in any of the stories that even hints at RADAR. I even checked the text story out too. As regards the reason why it's so scarce, I don't know but it could be something simple like paper shortages. The war was raging, the book would have hit the stands in approx. Sept/Oct 41 for the Nov. edition, and even tho' the USA were not involved at that point, paper shortages worldwide would surely have been kicking in.

wherever I read this did not suggest it was Planet 15 that had the Radar story but another FH book at the same time...

this would also suggest that there are other books from FH at the same time that are just as rare...

Your post kind of inferred it was PC 15, which is why I checked it out. :foryou:

sorry 'bout the confusion... but in the end I am still trying to understand why "that" issue is so rare? I feel like there must be a reason. I am hoping a discussion will reveal something.

It’s a fantastic copy! Very bright colors and Off-White pages.  Hard to find a copy of this book period and most are not as nice as a 4.0. And it’s one of my favorite covers. Congrats!
