Went over to visit my local “old guy” comic collector friend. Yes, there are still a few guys much older than me who collect comics. This guy is in his early 80’s and started buying off the stands in the mid ‘40’s.

He doesn’t use the internet and prefers his trusty Guide. Real old school. He also prefers to trade only. I traded him a bunch of low grade FH jungle books for these. He always likes to get a little “edge” on me. Fine with me.

Other than his Jungle ones, he is still holding out on the Planets but suspect when I get another pile, he might let me into those next time.

These are all upgrades for me. Some I’m actually slightly trading down a little for better color strikes. FH is all about the color for me…

That #90's really nice.

I'm looking for the local version of your guy.

It's related to an ad on the inside FC.  Pretty much every copy of that book has the same fading to some degree.

Ah good point, here is the interior cover, which has a great ad for Wings 1, but the angled yellow seems to line up with the fading pretty well.

reddest one i've ever seen.  even ped copies come faded.

Even the Church copy isn't super intense.

The front and back covers were printed on the same side sheet on huge web presses. The roll was then reversed and printed on the other side hopefully in register. If the inks got weak in the first one, the same thing would eventually happed in the second run. And FH is notoriously known for their cheap printing quality.
