Got beat by a nose on the JLA #64 (9.8 White), Hulk Annual #1 and a few of the Hulk pictureframe 9.8 Whites...and got left in the dust by the winner of the beautiful House of Mystery 191 (9.8 White) which went for over $2,700.

I was not bidding, until I saw this thread. I've always loved this cover, I've had a lower grade one for years.

I went heavy at the ASM #4 and #46 but the prices got to a point where it didn't make sense.  That auction made Spidey collecting very expensive.

You have to appreciate the detail in the drawing of Hawkman. Awesome!

Browsing through the OA available in this auction and I came across this wonderful blurb to a Byrne Action Comics page: 

Here's a great John Byrne page from the (in)famous 1987 story where a mind-controlled Superman and Mister Miracle's buxom wife, Big Barda, end up in bed together filming a porno scene! The page features Byrne's excellent renditions of Jack Kirby's Darkseid, Mister Miracle and Oberon, all key characters from Kirby's epic early 1970s 4th World saga. Byrne enjoyed using Kirby's characters during his famous revamp of Superman that started in the mid-80s. On the page, the ever so evil Darkseid plays a videotape of Big Barda for Mister Miracle that has been making the rounds of the Metropolis porno market. It shows a nude Barda dancing under the mind control of the villain Sleeze. To make matters, worse, Sleeze is in the middle of filming a scene featuring Superman and Big Barda about to have sex. Luckily, Mister Miracle is able to break things up before the deed is completed.

Am closely watching Marvel Mystery 48 - I sold this book to Jamie Graham in 2009 (?) after finding it raw in the wild (!) at an auction. Right now Jamie is taking a big time bath on it. We'll see.

You're lucky - I had to sleep on my phone to get up 3:30 AM  Had to give a lecture 8:30 AM  I just love collecting comics
