The All New Original Art Price Game - HA edition Adjusted

Seems like a number of people feel the Cap #68 cover will go 65-72K... I was thinking (in my uneducated opinion) much less. Hard to guess in the sense that not much like it pops up.

That's easily my favorite piece in the whole auction. A historic find. I love that era of the book, and Syd Shores did amazing work on many covers and splashes during that time (although this doesn't look like his work).

As rare as GA Cap covers are, and even though (last I checked) Supes, Bats, and Cap were the 3 hottest heroes for GA comic collectors... how many avid GA collectors also go after OA? (I really don't have an idea). I'm wondering if this one will be fought over by a couple bigger GA comic dealers who aren't hardcore into OA.

Wouldn't be surprised to see the Cap cover end up in Jim Halperin's awesome collection (would make a great companion piece to his GA Schomburg Human Torch cover).

Not really interested in playing guessing games (anyways, like Vodou, most of the listed items are outside of my sphere of interest), though I wouldn't be surprised to see this rare gem hammer a lot higher than 65 - 72K. 2c

Preacher $1200.

Preacher $3200. presents well

PREACHER 19 PANEL PAGE -STEVE DILLON $2200

Preacher $2,629

Preacher Dillon page - $2,900

:o

I know these numbers are ASKED FOR on eBay, but I'm not sure how many move at those levels.

I just hope this is SWAG (Some Wild Azz Guessing)

I'm hardly a Preacher expert, but I've watched a number of pages for a good while now and I was thinking closer to $700 - $800.

Lot of data points here.

It is difficult to estimate sometimes. Being off 3-400 dollars doesn't seem like much but that could be 25% variance.

I like this one better and it went for 1400

I also like this one better and it went for 2400

I would guess 2k. HA seems to get pretty good prices for Preacher Not confident in that assessment though. However, I do not believe these would go for nearly as much on eBay as they did on HA. So , while I am saying 2k, I am also saying I am not sure it would get 2k in another venue.

Good points - considering those last two...both of those pages are better examples with one being an action scene and another being a bit more pivotal to the story. Still, surprised at the overall prices. Interesting that the location a page is being sold in can so impact the price.

All guesses include BP:

1. Cap 68 cover $71,700

Missed it by one bidding increment ($60K hammer vs. $65K hammer)...still closest to the pin, though. ^^

how could you even say who 'won'?

Closest to the pin, total basket of goods, by dollars?

Closest to the pin, total basket of goods, by the absolute sum of the mean percentage deviation on each book?

Closest to the pin, most individual books, by dollars?

Closest to the pin, most individual books, by the absolute sum of the mean percentage deviation book?

No contest? (as one book did not reach reserve)

Closest to the pin if your name is Gene?   :insane:

We could find many ways to spin 'who won'   the guessing game.    I'd do the math on some of these options... except I don't feel like taking a half hour to do that :insane:

This is me responding to me (don't ask . . .).

Would have thought the Cap cover had gone for much higher than the $77,675 hammer price.   A one known cover from the original run???  Any Cap fan worth his salt should have gone all-out to secure that little prize . . .

You ain't kidding Terry, that piece is definitely not about Ken Bald. What are people holding back waiting for the S&K covers to come out lol Either GA art is truly dead (sorry Jon Berk, too little too late?) or somebody got a pretty nice deal, maybe not a flip, but a real keeper for well under six figures! I saw a few number lots go light this time. Enough so that I'm re-thinking my own deaccession plans...
