My wife doesn't get me comics, but she leaves me alone with my comics (even though many have pretty girls on the covers), so she's a keeper too! So has this ever happened to you? I posted that Rangers 25 CGC 1.8 but I swore I had bought a better copy. Was I dreaming? Or did I buy it and never get it? For about an hour I had a major panic attack! But then I found it. Whew! Talk about almost ruining your day! My wife also gives me old "girly" and pin up mags as well as vintage nudie photos when she runs into them! Yeah, I've bought books twice without knowing as well as misfiling books. Now is this horror? crime? GA? oh, and it's a Canada copy. Never a problem having two copies of a cool Rangers like that! If that gun has bullets, he might try using it rather than relying on the bolas. Stray bit of trivia: The last Rangers WW II cover was issue 27, cover date Feb 1946 -- six months after the war ended. 1950's war comics

I have to say, after years of hearing about it, the bibliography didn't quite live up to my expectations . But anyway, you need only look at some of the titillating and gruesome covers from the golden age, next to the tame and sanitized covers of today (by comparison), and you can see the huge impact of this book on the history and direction of comics. I haven't yet read the book yet, but Wertham certainly picked good examples to make his point that comics were a bad influence on kids: Here are pictures of the book displayed in my comic room: SOTI is a must have for any serious comic collector. Back in the 1970's I was obsessed with trying to find as many books as possible mentioned in it. I sent a ton of info in in Bob Overstreet. You should also try to find a copy of "Love and Death" by Gershon Legman. Also this book. A lot harder because it was published in England. Well worth the hunt! n2wdw
Matt Baker - Man's Exploits Here's something I got on eBay recently. No GGA, but another example of the amazing work by Baker. I find his magazine art more detailed than the comic art, but maybe that's just me. Thanks for reading. Larryw7 and torontodesignguy

n2wdw
Waiting on @Ricksneatstuff So as I'm waiting this Saturday morning for Rick to start posting his new sales thread, I thought I'd post some random pictures of the comic book room. Also, on a completely different topic, check out this picture of my hot pepper planters! They really came in this year. So sad summer is over. n2wdw
More Dastardly Bondage GGA - Branding Covers Among the many types of bondage GGA, I find branding one of the most disturbing. The pain, the permanence of it, the symbolism of ownership by a vile group (like Nazis or the KKK). Here are a couple from my collection: Here's also the classic Underworld Crime 7. Not branding exactly, but a similar concept. I look at the cover and wonder what the thug intends. Very creepy. This next one's not about branding, so it's like a bonus dastardly bondage GGA for this post. This is in the "crushing hands" sub-genre of bondage GGA. Again, very disturbing. Popular Post n2wdw
New Bakers From CGC Last week I got these 2 Bakers from CGC. His full cover, "romantic" covers with no lettering (other than the titles) are among my favorites. thehumantorch, Point Five, 1950's war comics and 2 others
Robot Man
Nice ones! Yeah, the covers without the side bars and dialogue balloons rock! Nothing to spoil the beautiful art and coloring. A true testamint to Matt Baker. There are no fewer than 3 active first page threads devoted to him currently in the GA section. Sure glad I discovered his stuff many years ago when you could get copies at bargain prices... 1950's war comics

Funny thing is, I only started collecting Baker a few years ago, yet now those recent prices seem like bargains too. I bought this one at a local con about 2 years ago, and at the time I thought it was a crazy price, but now I could probably get twice what I paid. n2wdw
New Additions Here are some recent additions to the comic room. I've been looking for a nice copy of Rangers 29 for a while. I got this one via an eBay auction. You wonder how long the girl has been hanging there. This is the first appearance of the Losers. I was really happy to get this! I've been looking for a nice copy of this classic Wilbur cover. Due to the missing upper right corner I was able to get it for a reasonable price. I've always liked this non-Baker Cinderella Love cover: And speaking of Baker, here's one I picked up:

n2wdw
Big Sunday Win! And I'm not talking football. Just won this on eBay. It's got flaws but I love it (especially for the price). Robot Man
Great book! I finally finished off these Schomburg Miss Masque covers. Now, I have to work on some upgrades. I hardly get anything off eBay any more. Not much I want and prices get pretty silly on what I want. Good to sell good stuff there but not so good to buy good stuff...
