n2wdw
October ComicLink Wins I won this comic in the C-Link auction, on Friday night of NYCC. I was checking the auction as I ate dinner at Quality Meats. It's a grail for me, and it made it easier for me not to go all in on comics at the con. I won this Baker too. It's low grade but presents well (IMHO). Closing prices of low and mid-grade Bakers were aggressive at this C-Link auction. The strong prices of the low-grade Bakers surprised me, as the market at that grade seemed to be softening. I got this 1.5 at a good price, but it makes me wonder if you have to be in the 1-2 point range now to get affordable Bakers, rather than the 3-4 point range. comicnoir and 1950's war comics

n2wdw
I haven't posted pictures of the comic room in a while, so here are a few. In this post, I'll post pictures of the top shelf in Wall 1; here's the map of my room: I store action figures on this shelf, like DC Direct multi-sets. I made the shelf deep enough so I could store CGC books in front of the action figures: Here are pictures of the top shelf, with the comics in front of the action figures. I'm standing on a ladder as I'm taking these pictures. jimjum12, kelholt and Ricksneatstuff
n2wdw
I've been searching for a nice copy of Rangers 38 for some time now. This is the classic hanging cover, and it's one of the reasons Rangers is my favorite Fiction House title. So I found this one. I bought it and thought I was done. Then, this one came up for sale. 2 nice copies going on the market in less than a week. The colors are really vibrant, so I decided to pull the trigger. So now I've gone from no copies to 2 copies all of a sudden. Maybe someday I'll have a sale. Larryw7 and szucchini

I’ve had several of these, probably the nicest around 7.5 or so. It’s always a toss up to me whether I prefer Rangers or Fight.
n2wdw
GGA Grails - Ginger and Sherry! This weekend I picked up 2 GGA grails. The first is Ginger 4. The staples are rusted, there's a small stain to the left of Ginger's face, and the cover is detached, but I still love it! I think it'll look even better once I've got it protected in the CGC slab. The second is Sherry #6. This title is tough to collect. A couple years ago a boardie offered a few issues and I've always regretted not dropping a flag when I had a chance. I've still got a long way to go to complete my Sherry and Showgirls runs. Ricksneatstuff, comicjack and Larryw7

n2wdw
Dastardly (and Disturbing) GGA Bondage I won this on eBay tonight. Branding and whipping. Whew. Can't get much more dastardly than that. I'll be interested (and scared) to read the story that goes along with this cover. Stories don't always pan out as well as the covers sometimes. My favorite pulps to read are the Spider and Strange Detective Mysteries. Stories never disapoint and are some of the most disturbing stuff. comicjack

n2wdw
Cherry Last weekend I was traveling, and the time difference helped me get a Cherry collection that was being offered by @asteroid-comix. I was able to reach agreement with AC on a price, to buy everything in his thread. That's the first time I've done that, buying an entire thread. How often does that happen, when you can not only reach agreement on price, and you don't already have some of what's being offered? While I'm a Cherry fan I've never been able to buy any graded copies. AC's sale gave me a chance for, essentially, an instant mostly complete collection. What's extra fun is some of the unique items AC was offering. Like this Cherry mini. I didn't even know it existed before this. Even more unique though was this Vinyl Gang bang Etched Record from SDCC. The seller's thread had this information about the LP: Quote There is no music or, indeed, any audio on this release. Its a limited edition 12" from the San Diego comic con 1989. 17 comic book artists including Mary Fleener, Dennis Worden, Krystine Kryttre, Daniel Clowes, JR Williams, Larry Welz, Paul Mavrides, Wayno, as well as Jaime, Beto & Mario Hernandez etched a 12" vinyl blank on both sides with signatures and artwork. Limited edition of 53 only. Some of the artists were a little too forceful when etching their contributions and many of the 12" vinyl blanks cracked when removed from the stamper - hence the ridiculously small limited edition. rjpb

n2wdw
I feel like posting something, so here's a couple books I bought recently from a boardie. I was on a business trip at the time, eating alone as I often do, sitting at a bar, sipping a bourbon and surfing the boards on my iPad. I was lucky enough to see the comics when then were offered, so I was able to drop flags. The first one was Rangers 32. This was a major upgrade over what is now my under-copy: Next up is Planet 53. I didn't already have a copy, so with this I'm able to check the book off my want list. What exactly is happening in this cover? Girls are being tied to rockets, or some kind of power devices? Maybe someday I'll get a reading copy or reprint and find out. kelholt and Ricksneatstuff
Popular Post n2wdw
Great Looking CGC 1.0 It's hard for me to believe I only got 1.0 for this book. But then, even though the cover looks great, the book is pretty much falling apart. It doesn't look that way in the CGC case. Lately I've been sending to CGC books like this, which are low grade grails that I want to encapsulate, with the main reasons being presentation and preservation. n2wdw
New Additions to Lady In White Collection Here are 2 new additions to my Lady in White collection. As I've mentioned, to qualify for this set, the cover has to have a gothic feel to it, with a damsel in distress wearing a flowing white dress or gown. The books have to be at least 9.0. @miraclemet put together the original Lady in White collection. I liked the idea so started my own collection, and MM gave me permission to use the same name. A big part of the fun is searching for books that qualify for the collection. I've never found a golden age comic that qualifies. In fact, all the comics so far are bronze. Which makes sense, as I believe gothic was the thing in the 70s. I expect there are modern comics out there that qualify, but I haven't found any yet. There are some magazines that qualify, but trying to find them in 9.0 or better is tough. So I'm thinking about easing that requirement, for some books. n2wdw
Here's a magazine that fits the Lady In White collection. It was advertised as 9.0. I plan to submit and hope it gets 9.0 but I'm not certain it will. For books like this, I think I'll ease the 9.0 requirement, with the understanding (in my head) that I will upgrade if I get the chance. Sometimes I negotiate with myself like this. Not that I'm crazy or anything.
