Yes, it was but the overall movie was entertaining. He could’ve been left out of the whole movie and it wouldn’t make much of a difference. Still, I’d give the movie an 8/10 as far as mcu films go

Saw it for the first time this morning with my daughter (age 12), and we had avoided spoilers.  We both really liked it. I had to explain that we "the audience" know Groot well enough to understand him now, just like Gamora was surprised when she could understand him in that same scene. I can't believe that was controversial (for anyone over age 12). They spelled it out for us in that scene... he says "I am Groot" and people who know him well hear what he's really saying. We know him well now.

I think the last movie I saw on my birthday was King Ralph and it's still a masterpiece to this day. Maybe you should pick the movie next time.
